Purchased this 509c in 2019 for $400 great deal. I use it as my edc, spits out everything I feed her. Also picked up a 15rd magazine to go with her. Thx buds.

This was my second FN firearm after the terrible mistake of dropping $1,300 on a Five Seven (great pistol, just a horrible gun to buy when you live in CT and your FFL has to neuter the beautiful 20rnd mags to 10, they butchered mine and the mag spring felt horrible after that.) The FNS-9C i purchased from buds came with 10 round magazines so thankfully no butchering lol. This pistol was amazing from the start, the first thing i noticed when i took it out of the box was how well the finish was, the second thing was the amazing texturing on the grip and the slide serrations (some of the best done slide serrations on a pistol IMO.) The trigger on this pistol is also pretty decent, nothing to write home about but good enough for a striker fired carry gun. I wanted a double stack sub compact and went with the FNS over the Glock 26 and have no regrets. Unfortunately FN prices are outrageous especially now during COVID, i actually got mine for a steal, under $500 (THANKS BUDS) which i doubt will ever be had for that price again. I’m not sure if this model is still in production or if theres just slim pickings because of the pandemic but buds has the new FN 509 sub compacts from time to time and they are basically the newer version of the FNS, probably even better so check it out if you cant find the FNS-9C.

I am very pleased with my purchase. I have owned this gun for about 3 weeks and have shot 500 rnds. The stippling on the handle made my hand red and sore (after 300 rnds). I installed some Talon grips and that resolved the issue. I carry this appendix and it conceals nicely and is comfortable. I am not impressed with the triger, the reset is stiff az nd grainy. I am hoping that will smooth out in 1000 rnds or so. One disclaimer, if you buy extra magazines they dont come with the thumb exrention. That is separate and is a backorder item (2 month delay) from FN online store.

Great pistol. I got this particular one for conceal carry. I usually carry an fnx 45 full size in a laptop/messenger bag, but also wanted something compact and IWB. This is my 7th fnh pistol and I trust the brand. The fns 9c is a solid pistol, feels good in my average sized hands, sights are easy to see and use, shoots good, recoil is pleasant enough, and I like the way it looks! (I got the fde version) I'm no expert, just a regular guy who enjoys going to the range with friends and family, having a bunch of fun shooting! I also enjoy the freedom to protect myself and my family and for that I want high quality, reliable tools. My fns 9c came with two 10 round magazines. The first magazine ran flawless but I had trouble with the second one. Every other shot was a stovepipe. This didn't surprise me since it seems to be a thing with fnh magazines. I've found that fnh mags typically need a break in period. I leave them fully loaded for a week or so and that usually breaks in the spring. Sometimes they need an extra week. My second trip to the range, both magazines ran flawless. I put 30 rounds through each one to give it a decent run and everything worked fine. I've had the same issue with other fnh magazines in all calibers, 9, 40 and 45 and each time the extra break in solved the problem. Shooting this pistol is fun! It's accurate and recoil is fairly mellow for a compact gun. Racking the slide is a little stiff. If you are used to racking slides then it won't be an issue. If you have trouble racking slides then you might want to test it and see how it feels for you. Trigger pull is decent, a little mushy at the start but it breaks clean and reset is good. It has the ambidextrous magazine release buttons and slide stops, which work for me since I'm a lefty. It also has the loaded chamber indicator, which is handy. The version I got has no manual safety which is what I wanted. Take down for cleaning is easy. After confirming the gun is clear, I lock back the slide, drop the takedown lever, ease slide forward, pull trigger to unlock striker, keep going forward with the slide and there you go. Recoil spring comes out, barrel comes out, all ready for cleaning and oiling! Reassemble is just as easy. There is a small accessory rail at the front, under the barrel area. I don't plan on putting anything on this pistol but it's good to know I can if I want. I do have lights and lasers in that same accessory spot on some of my other fnh pistols and they work good. Finding a holster for the fns 9c was easy enough. A quick search online led me to several options and I picked out a couple IWB that I liked and so far they are working excellent. Overall, I like the fns 9c. It has all the quality and reliability I've come to expect from fnh. And did I mention?...It's a lot of fun to shoot!!
