The Springfield Armory Mil-Spec, like all Springfield 1911s, features a carbon steel frame and slide that is fully forged, rather than cast, for the utmost durability. The 5-inch Match Grade stainless steel barrel is also forged for lifetimes of use. The slide has slanted serrations and the mainspring housing is the original arched style found on GI issue 1911-A1s. The Mil-Spec 1911 also features fixed 3-dot sights, a lowered and flared ejection port, and a single-sided thumb safety. Each Mil-Spec comes with fully-checkered wood grips, unique to this Defenders Series model. This classic 1911 has a Parkerized finish to combat corrosion, and comes with one 7-round magazine.

I already owned a Springfield 1911, loaded ,stainless, but I wanted a 1911 that looked a little more like the original war guns. This is a nice balance of original with modern upgrades to improve function. Fit and finish are very good. Field stripped both guns and could not see any difference in barrel, bushing fit. Shoots well to point of aim, not a target gun, but it doesn’t sell itself as one. Would buy again. Had a jamming problem with my stainless years ago. Springfield was very responsive and helpful, fixed the problem. No such problem with new gun.

I haven\\\'t used the pistol yet,but know it is good quality for the price.\r\n\r\nHowever, Bud\\\'s really surprised me with quick service and shipping to my FFL\r\n\r\nI will be coming back to Bud\\\'s as soon as I am ready for my next pistol (maybe a glock 21 or 41 or whatever).\r\n

I wanted to get a 45 that would be on par with the ones that I used (in the military) without having to spend LOTS of money. This Springfield Defender .45 was the answer to what I wanted. This pistol is basic but seems well made. I put 250 rounds through it with no issues. I\\\'m happy with this pistol and the price was right. Ordering and delivery to my ffl was very easy.

First the 1911 feels as solid as a rock everything is tight you cant find a better 1911 for the price only thing I don\\\'t like about it was the guide rod I\\\'ve seen 1911\\\'s with rods half the length of the spring but this one is about a quarter size I will definitely be changing that out. All in all this is a great starter if you intend to upgrade or customize to your liking

Bought this last month and already have 500 rounds through it. The slide to frame fit is tight. The sights are right on. I have used several different magazines without any difficulty. I\\\'ve had no Failure to feed issues. This is a great budget 1911 and a lot of fun to shoot. My experience with Buds was a great experience. Purchased online with a trade-in. Got what I wanted out of my trade and a great deal on my purchase. I had the Springfield Defender 1911 sent to the store in my state and picked it up when I received notice it was in.

I have always loved Mil-Spec 1911s and I think Springfield Armory makes the best in that series. This gun is alot of gun for the money. It\\\'s a reliable and affordable pistol, that\\\'s proven to be very reliable and accurate. This works great as is, but is also a great base model to make a more custom piece. Bud\\\'s had the best price on this pistol and had it to me in 2 days. A good experience all the way around.

This is a Fine military spec 1911. A gun with 110 years of proven use. It is black parkerized ( like charcoal) not gun metal as often pictured. 1911. High quality. Reasonable price. \r\nFavorite caliber. I really don’t care what ballistics gel, or the ‘ science’ of frag rounds , fps, lbs of force... that want to talk down 45acp. As a caliber. Having worked hospitals my whole life, what real life has taught me about gun shot wounds? Every caliber I’ve seen rolling in. Quite a few recover either fully or disabled. What I rarely- or never see is .357, 44 and 45. They are coroners cases. They don’t make it to the ER. I will say, the few times they do it’s pretty bad and it’s usually for organ harvesting and donation. If your new to 45. Don’t let the slow FPS or low force fool you. There’s a long century of dead Germans, Japanese, Koreans, and Vietnamese - and even Philippine Moro warriors ( why the caliber was made) to attest this is a very fatal round.

Heavy gun for me; however scary if it\\\'s pointed at you!

I got myself one of these for Christmas. I shot my first 1911 40 years ago, and have owned and fired these pistols ever since, so I have some experience with this platform. This particular iteration of the 1911 is a good example of what a basic model should be. The frame to slide fit is good, the finish is nice, and even the grips are (although pretty basic) functional and give the gun that GI-issue appearance. There isn\\\'t a lanyard loop, the sights are more pronounced and the ejection port is lowered and beveled, all of which make it less authentic, but other than that it looks pretty government-issue. I would highly recommend it to anyone who wanted a high-quality, reliable and affordable 1911 backed by a company that offers good customer support for a Made-In-America handgun.\r\n\r\nHow does it shoot? So far, flawlessly. The trigger was nice right out of the box, and it went bang each time I pulled (or pressed) it. And I did that 400 times in a row on my first trip to the range without a single hiccup. Not a single FTF, FTE, or failure of the slide to lock back after the final round. And that was with only an initial cleaning, then no cleaning between round 1 and 400. Break-in? Apparently it didn\\\'t need one.\r\n\r\nIn summary, if I was in the market for my first, or even my 20th 1911, for the money you could make much poorer choices than this one...Even in pistols that cost hundreds more.

Fantastic value. Same specs as the $620 model with downgraded grips and one less mag. I don\\\'t care about the grips and Buds has mags for $15. There are cheaper .45 1911s but none are better than this one.

Nicholas, yes it will fire +P ammunition as it is a full Mil-Spec built handgun. It was designed for the hotter NATO Spec loading\'s. \"Springfield only recommends shooting +p ammunition in barrels of 5\'\' or more.\"

It uses standard 1911 magazines, an 8-round one should fit just fine with the only difference being the added length below the end of the grip.

Several years ago, Springfield cut all ties with Imbel Brazil They won't say who they source their parts from though, or who makes the forgings. Now all their 1911s are made in USA. Not with part outside the USA. Some of their parts are from venders in the USA they make some parts and all the tooling is done 100% in the USA as well.
