Sadly, this is my last Taurus product. The second time out to the range the retainer for the recoil spring disintegrated and went down range, disabling the gun. Taurus never responded to my requests for warranty coverage. I gave it two stars because the gun does have a lot of great features and it ran fine once I put in a Wilson replacement recoil spring setup and cut full length 1911 recoil springs to proper length, tuned to my competition load.

I just received my order of Taurus - Taurus 1911 Officer Model,45acp,3.51",Black 2/8 rou. As I am impressed with Buds, I am also thankful of their service. I repay them by telling other people about their prices, selections, and the lay-away program which I too have benefitted from. Upon receipt of this order last week I only received one (1) magazine. I believe that there should have been two (2), am I correct? I tried calling but to COVID-19 procedures and it almost impossible to talk to anyone at this time. Could you please have someone to look in to this?
Thank you,
Lt Grays

Wow. I'd like to start by first saying that I have owned a Taurus PT-1911 Duotone for over 10 years now, I have run thousands of rounds through it with no issues what-so-ever.
I picked up the Taurus 1911 Officer from my FFL, inspected it and found no issues. I brought it to the range, 3 days later, and loaded up the magazine with 6 rounds of American Eagle 230 grain JRN, ball ammunition. I jacked on into the chamber, dropped the magazine, loaded another round into it, and slapped it into the pistol. All great so far.
I shot at the target, 10 yards out, 6 times, and all but the first missed the target (no, it's not the shooter). The pistol misfired on the 7th round. I dropped the magazine, and tried to rack the slide to clear the 7th round, but could only get the slide pulled about 1/2" back. That was when I noticed the guide rod was on the ground in front of me. I picked it up and placed it on the shooting bench. Once again, I tried to eject the final round, but to no avail. I needed to clear that round, so I pushed the slide back into battery, aimed at the target, and pulled the trigger. The round fired off and ejected the spent brass, again, missing the target. I tried to pull the slide back to lock it back, and was only able to get it to go about 1/2" back. I verified the chamber was empty, tried fitting the broken guide rod into the pistol to see if that might be needed to align the recoil spring and allow me to disassemble the pistol. No such luck. When I returned home to my work bench, I tried pushing the slide back on the edge of a wooden block, and I was only able to get it about 3/4" back.
In looking at the guide rod, it was sheared off from the base plate. I've sent it off to Taurus for repair (or replacement), in hopes that it was just a faulty guide rod.
Once I get it back (in 12-14 WEEKS!), I will update this review.

Had a chance to fire my new officer model today. On the 9th shot with factory Winchester premium ammo the gun jammed. I field stripped the gun to find the guide rod missing the secondary Recoil spring badly bent and the e-clip and spring retainer in the bottom of the frame. All I can figure is the guide rod either broke or the e-clip came loose. This will be my last Taurus gun and its one of many I own.

The Taurus Officer 1911 is a fine firearm. The features are great for the money. There are a couple things to know about the model. The trigger gets better after cleaning and a bit of dry-firing. The Taurus Officer comes with a small guide rod tool that is necessary to use when removing the guide rod and spring for cleaning. I read the manual but missed that point. I couldn't get the guide rod out when cleaning and thought there was an issue with the assembly. After reading the manual again, I saw that all you have to do is lock the slide back, then place the sleeve tool around the guide rod protruding from the front of the gun. Pull the slide stop pin then take off the slide. Next, the rod and spring will pop right out as a group. Reassembly is the reverse. Easy if you read the manual in detail. Don't lose that sleeve tool for the guide rod! Two boxes of FMJ and two mags of V-Crown with no issues using the factory magazine. I did pop in a couple of 8 round mags just to see if they worked. They don't due to loose fit and maybe over-insertion. So far, I'm very impressed with this 1911.

So far, I've been very pleased with this $450.00 1911. It's all steel, (mainspring housing and trigger included). The checkering on the front of the grip frame is well done.
Haven't seriously put it on paper yet, but it seems more accurate than I would have expected shooting steel targets. The trigger pull started out terrible, but is getting better. The really good news is that I haven't been able to make it malfunction. I've run it with at least five different brands of magazines using steel case ammo and my handloads with Magnus Bullets 215 gr. lead SWC.

A:Joshua, only (1) 6rd Magazine is included Sir. A compact won't have a higher 45ACP capacity than a standard full sized 1911. ---- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kZPDsRcx-k8 -
