Arguably the most famous rifle of the Old West, Winchester's first centerfire arm was manufactured from 1873-1919, with more than 541,000 turned out before 1900. A frontier favorite since its debut, this lever-action rifle was produced in a number of variations from short Trapper models and carbines to short and extra-long barreled rifles. A few short years after the 1873 rifle was introduced it was often teamed with the famed 1873 Peacemaker and other sixguns.

Bought this to be my main workhorse for CAS/SASS. This rifle is FANTASTIC. Love shooting it. Took a little getting used to having the brass eject straight out of the top but once I did- I just love shooting it. It shoulders so well, feels like a natural extension of myself. A beautiful to look at, too

I received my rifle in five days. It is a beautiful piece of work. Thanks Buds!

Beautiful firearm! The rifle has excellent precision. I've shot ~100 rounds, the point of impact at 25 yards is exactly where the sight picture was at the time of trigger pull. The fit and finish is great, the color case hardening is spot on and the mating surfaces all fit well. The action cycles well out of the box, a little stiff but not terrible. The balance of the rifle is good, if you are shooting without a support (not using sand bags) it is easy to hold the sight picture on the target. I love the 1873 design, there is not a hideous barrel band in sight!
The sights are okay if you are plinking, but if you want better groups at distance (50/100 yds) then aftermarket sights will be required (at least for my eyes). I am putting on a Marbles Tang sight and a Uberti Tunnel front sight with interchangeable inserts.
There are lots of aftermarket parts available (lifter spring kits, lighter main spring, aluminum carriage, lighter lever safety spring, etc.), as this particular model is used frequently in cowboy action shooting (this is from reference, I don't personally shoot cowboy action).

I just received this rifle this last week, I have not shot it yet. The look of the overall gun is amazing, I have several pistols from Cimarron but this is my first rifle. The workmanship on the stock and the metal parts is flawless. Having these guns is like going back in time to another era in our history when you didn't have clip after clip of pre-loaded amo and every shot counted. I would recommend this gun to anyone who loves revolvers and lever-action rifles. Gotta love Buds Gun Shop Layaway plan, makes buying guns like these possible.

This is one beautiful rifle. The case hardened finish is spot on. The walnut is perfect. Oh and it shot pretty good right out of the box. After cleaning of that darn shipping oil of course! I highly recommend this rifle!

Based on looks and operation, Cimmaron hit another one out of the park with the 1873 20" Short Rifle in .45 Colt. The wood is real nice with a great finish and fit to steel. Bluing is deep with case hardening pronounced and colorful. Of course it needs slicked up to be competitive, but the standard operation is very smooth and impressive. I cannot talk about accuracy due to the fact I haven't shot it yet.
