I absolutely love this rifle. It shoots great. The 35 Whelen is a cartridge that I have been interested in since I heard about it years ago so when I saw that CVA had chambered this for it I had to buy it. The rifle itself is very well done and feels very solid. The break action is nice and tight and smooth. The included hammer extension is a nice touch and helps out with getting a good purchase on the hammer under my scope. It has a fair bit of recoil but the pad does a pretty good job at absorbing some of it. I am very happy with my purchase. A few bits of advice I would give to someone buying this is 1) Buy the high height scope rings because medium is too low for the hammer 2)Definitely use blue loctite on the screws for your scope rings and bases because of the recoil of the 35 Whelen cartridge in this small gun and 3)before you put your scope on take the base that comes attached to the rifle off and use a grease and oil cleaner to clean the screw holes out because there is left over machining oil in those holes that wasn't cleaned out at the factory(at least that was how mine was) and then put the base on using loctite on those screws too

Good looking gun and shooting gun. Only thing that I wish that it came with is a muzzle break - it kicks a little.

35 Whelan, CVA Scout, blue barrel. I love this rifle! As far as accuracy, the best I can tell you is, using over the counter Barnes 180 grain solid copper ammo, I can hit a tennis ball at 100 yards from my treestand. So I haven't tried any other type of ammo in it. I chose the 35 Whelen specifically so that I wouldn't have to follow blood trails, which can be a problem when hunting on an Army post. Basically, you can't follow deer beyond your assigned area without the assistance of a game warden. By that time the coyotes will have gotten your deer. This caliber hits hard and SC white tail deer drop within a few feet. So impressed I bought another one in 243 for smaller critters. I'll review that one later...

Rifle functions perfectly! Shoots excellent! Putting a 25 inch barrel, definitely does the 35 Whelen justice. I plan on using it on my next elk hunt.

Rifle shoots great, looks great and functions perfect. Trigger is acceptable I have not tested for the pull weight, but I am guessing 4-6 lbs which is more than acceptable for a $350 rifle. Ammo is hard to find, but I reload so that is working out fine. I got some great groups and have put around 150 rounds through it the last three weeks. I had one group that was a clover leaf 3 shot group at 100 yards, but that is not what is expected since I am using cast bullets. I figure 1-1/2 with cast bullets. When I get a box of standard ammo I will see what it will do with those. I had about a 3-1/2" group at 200 yards with the cast bullets, but the loaded ammo is only traveling at around 1800 fps at muzzle as you cannot load them to full power. I put a Vortex Hog Hunter scope on it and it will be my woods rifle. I am super happy. Ohh.. super fast shipping from Buds to my FFL. I got it in like 3 days during beginning of Christmas Rush time.

This is a dandy rifle. The company advertisement is true. Three and a quarter point trigger and nice recoil pad. Stock is very well made with nice checkering. It will shoot quarter size groups. The barrel is a good weight to hold sight picture and follow through on moving targets.
It is much better that it's price would suggest.

I ordered this Scout in the Middle of a BLIZZERED ,LOL, I was really surprised it came in as Qwick as it did. I received it and took it home ,cleaned it and mounted scope ,bore sighted it and now im looking for Ammo !!!!! Can't wait to Shoot it. It feels really good up against my shoulder..Its a Really Nice Piece and I would recommend it to Anybody.
