Is this a gas impingement or a piston driven rifle I have a piston driven upper that looks similar. Just curious as I've never heard of colt making a piston driven rifle but I've been told these are by someone? Can anyone verify?

It is direct impingement. Colt did at one point make the piston driven 6940P however. Now they're really only seen for exorbitant prices on auction sites.

Do the sites fold down on this Colt 6940 to allow easy use of optics? Also, how do I choose a "best answer" the questions I ask the Community? Thanks.

Yes, the rear sight is a magpul MBUS sight that will just fold down when you push it and lock closed and the front sight on the gas block folds down with a spring loaded button. Regarding selecting best answers, you should get an email when someone posts an answer with a link back to the question where you can pick an answer.

I live in North Carolina and would love to purchase this rifle, but I want to make sure this rifle is not any “state compliant version”, Here in NC we don’t have restrictions like other states. Essentially, I want to purchase the original version, not any state reatricted version.
