Steyr Pro Hunter .300 win mag. A+ to Buds shipping and handling. The rifle was received by FFL within 3 days of purchase. First impressions: This is well engineered rifle and a lot of rifle for the money. The action is smooth and the spirals left on the barrel from the cold hammer forging process are distinctive. The stock is a fiberglass polymer blend and very stiff. The rifle is around 9 pounds with Leupold 4-12x40 and Talley medium rings. The weight of the rifle handles recoil well and although heavy, the rifle is well balanced and seems lighter. Steyr could provide a softer recoil pad. Accuracy: Lights out! The rifle shot .65 moa 5 shots groups consistently with 150 grain Remington Core Lokt factory ammunition. It shot .85 moa 5 shot groups with 165 grain Barnes Vor-tx factory ammunition. I have not tested any other ammunition at this time. Conclusion: This is an excellent rifle and the price seems extremely low for the quality. The rifle is on the heavy side but balances well. The accuracy and consistency of accuracy with factory ammunition far exceeded expectations. I'm not easily impressed with anything and am looking to purchase another Steyr Pro Hunter in the mountain rifle configuration with the 20" barrel in a short action caliber.
