Charles Daly 601 Field 12 ga. semi-auto Shotgun. After reading several mixed comments about the shotgun overall performance I was skeptical about purchasing this shotgun. I decided to order one and see for myself, the very first shot fired it did not eject and load another shotshell , so I thought here we go , it's going to end up a single shot and not a semi-auto. To my surprise and liking, I pulled the handle back to load another shotshell, squeezed the trigger and from that point forward have had no issues whatsoever with the shotgun ejecting or loading shotshells, which include several different name shotshells up to and including slugs. Overall , for a reasonably priced semi-auto shotgun, it performs just fine.

Sweet shotgun for the price. Out of the box functions perfectly. I will be buying another in the near future.

I recently purchased a 12 gage 601. Once assembled it will not eject a shell or load a shell. UPS who has a contract with Chiappa refuses to return the firearm even with a prepaid shipping label from Chiappa. So far worthless even with 5 year warranty from Chiappa and lifetime warranty from Buds/

This 601 Charles Daly is the second one I have owned. The first one was purchased about 25 years ago. It still works like a new gun, but, after dragging it through the woods for 20 years it is in need of refurbishing. The 601 field model "for the money" Is an Excellent shotgun. It has a rubbed finish on the wood that I believe to be Turkish walnut. It is very smooth but has no applied coating of any kind on the wood. The metal is finished in non glossy black. I have several other more expensive guns and the Daly looks just as good. It comes with 3 choke tubes and factory installed sling swivels. I have not shot it much, because ammo is so expensive now, But I did try different length shells in it, with no malfunctions. The gas action is smooth an not a lot of felt recoil. The transaction with Buds was seamless as usual with no problems. Would I recommend it to anyone else? You bet. Thanks Bud's
