The Heritage is our entry-level 1911, allowing shooters to experience Dan Wesson quality at the most affordable price possible. Even though this model is our most economical, it features all the same quality components that we use in our 1911 models.
A Government-size model, it has a 5-inch barrel and is chambered in .45 ACP. The slide features our Clark-style rib and wears a tritium front sight and plain black, snag-free rear. The sides of the slide have a nice brushed polish on the flats while the rounds are sandblasted to match the matte forged frame with undercut trigger guard and smooth front strap. Grips are double diamond rubber.
The Heritage is a great introduction to the Dan Wesson 1911 experience and we are confident it will become an heirloom, handed down from generation to generation.

At my local range I asked one of the employees to take a look at the pistol to see if he could determine the issue. He noticed that the top of both mags were flared, catching on the bottom of the mag well when inserted causing the first round to nose dive. The spring in the plunger it self was not strong enough to maintain the integrity of the top round. At his suggestion, I called Dan Wesson's service department and I explain the problem. I did not call Dan Wesson with an attitude and merely wondered how to resolve the problem. The customer service employee I spoke with was more than rude to me. I was told to put the mag in a vice and "pinch the top of the mag so it does not flare because some mags need to be tuned." I asked the guy, "you mean that I spend $1,300.00 on a pistol and the new mags that come with it need to be tuned?" Well, if I did not want to tune the new mags myself I could send them in and they would take a look at it.
Lesson learned. I should have saved my money and purchased an Ed Brown, Wilson Combat, or a Nighthawk Custom. No more Dan Wessons.
