The Stainless Steel Mil-Spec is built on a full-size frame and slide. The pistol is made from stainless steel, which has a polished finish on the flat surfaces and bead-blasted matte finish on the rounded areas. The 5-inch barrel is match grade and made from stainless steel. The slide features slanted serrations on the rear only. The mainspring housing is the original arched style found on GI issue 1911-A1s, but it includes the Springfield Armory I.L.S. The pistol also has a standard spur hammer and standard grip safety. The single-sided, non-extended thumb safety and short military combat trigger are true to the original 1911-A1 design. The combat 3-Dot sights are fixed, and the ejection port is lowered and flared. Each Mil-Spec comes with a beautiful pair of cross-cannon emblazoned cocobolo grips that are held in place with slotted grip screws. Includes two 7-round magazines.
Specifications:

Zero slop in slide to frame fit and locks up tightly.
Good feeling crisp trigger break.
For some reason I get zero “hammer bite” in the web of my shooting hand like I have other non-beavertail (non Springfield) 1911. This one allows my large paw to still take a high grip and shoot very comfortably.
Accuracy is very good. I didn’t know what to expect with a MilSpec model in terms of sights, but these are pronounced and work well for me.
The gun has been 100% perfect on every round cycled through it. Zero failure to feed or function everything from 230gr ball, 200gr lswc and 200gr Gold Dot carry loads.
Great gun. I’m very pleased I bought this one.
Not as pictured for my example purchased in Sept 2019: On the safety side of the pistol it says "MIL-SPEC" in a fairly small font - not "1911-A1 CAL .45".
It shoots fine. I have a couple hundred rounds thru with only a stovepipe.
I don't buy a lot of 1911s because they are a little small for my hands.

A:Zachary, I believe this model is Glued Sir. Glues will hold parts under a lot of stress and impact IF they are properly cleaned and allowed to cure. Since models do get changed, I would confirm my assessment directly with Springfield Customer Service at 1-800-680-6866 --- Monday through Friday 8:30 to 4:30 CST. -

A:Yes sir, from Springfield's site " The pistol also has a standard spur hammer and standard grip safety. " From here: https://www.springfield-armory.com/products/1911-mil-spec-45-acp/ -
Q: Is this one of the models that has the I.L.S. integrated into the mainspring housing? I hope not.

A:George - The owners manual still addresses the ILS. I understand, however, only the CA models still have it - Springfield stopped installing it on all but the CA models a couple years ago. So this one should be good to go. And sweet guns they are too!See 1 more answer | -

A:That is not a backstrap. On the 1911 that is the mainspring housing. This gun comes with a arched mainspring housing but you can buy aftermarket flat mainspring housings and change it. This can be done on any 1911See 4 more answers | -
