The Ruger American is a 9mm semi-auto pistol first introduced in 2015. It is striker fired and features a black Nitride finish, an integral rail, ambidextrous slide release & mag release, 3-dot LoMount Carry Novak sights, a 3.5-inch 1:10 barrel, interchangeable grip inserts, and a capacity (depending upon the magazine being used) of either 12 or 17 rounds. It also boasts a low bore axis and a redesigned barrel lug, both of which are designed to reduce recoil impulse.

A:Thomas, there is no way to know without a Serial Number. All Ruger American Pistols chambered in 9mm with serial number prefixes “860” and “862” are subject to this Safety Bulletin and should be inspected. (Buds may or likely may not be willing to check this Serial Number range for you). Ruger will resolve the issue in about a week at no charge to owners in any event. -
