That is the question. I don't know and haven't tried to ask Buds what Marlins their selling right, i.e. what year, how old etc. Things have improved I hear, but??? I am tipping toward a JM or even a Winchester (about the same $ as a JM. Thoughts anyone??

The marlins from 2017 and newer have been reported very good quality. The JM will cost more, but it’s a toss up

This is the rifle I use to hunt wild pigs with. I have bagged 10 with it and with the right load and scope it is easy to use in the brush where the pigs hang out. I have had no problems with it and I find that it moves quickly and is accurate. We all know how dangerous pig hunting can be and I feel very comfortable with my Marlin 45-70 Scout in the brush. Highly recommend this rifle with the 300 grain hollow point ammo.
