The Tikka T3x is the next generation of the renowned
T3 rifle. These new T3x rifles are built to the same standards that so
many have come to rely on from the original T3, and continue to boast a
hammer forged barrel, sturdy stocks, and smooth bolt actions. They still
offer a 3-shot sub-MOA accuracy guarantee right out of the box, and
will continue to represent the great value of the Tikka rifle line. Some
new features that set the T3x apart from its older brother include the
following:
Modular synthetic stock allows the pistol grip to be changed out for a more personalized and comfortable fit
Improved asymmetrical grip pattern and shape that will better accommodate grip in any condition
Upgraded recoil pad to mitigate felt recoil
Foam insert to lessen noise that is produced from the stock (not available in models with adjustable cheek piece)
Redesigned ejection port that creates easier single feeding through the ejection port
Improved rail attachment via an extra screw placement on top of the receiver for sturdier rail placement
A robust metallic bolt shroud to cover and shield the rear of the bolt body and firing pin
Steel recoil lug to decrease deformation even in larger calibers compared the aluminum ones in use in T3 rifles
Tikka has always been considered one of the best options when considering a rifle, and the T3x continues and enhances this legacy.

At the time of this review, this model in this caliber has been discontinued in the US. In fact, it was discontinued when I bought it, and Buds was one of the only places around that still had inventory. I had searched all over the internet trying to find one, and then found it at Buds in my own back yard. The 8x57 doesn't have a lot of popularity these days. Available ammo is scarce and underpowered. But, if you hand load, it is an excellent all-around cartridge. It hits hard, and shoots moderately flat. It doesn't shoot as flat as the newest fad target calibers, and it doesn't hit as hard as the big bore shoulder bruisers. It doesn't do anything the *best*, but it does *everything* well. The Tikka came in a beautiful walnut stock. Finished so well at first I worried it was a vinyl print. I wish it had just a little more figuring, as it is all very uniform straight grain, but for the $500 price tag, it's still a beautiful stock. The bluing is impeccable. The action is smooth and polished. Trigger is light and crisp. And, as long as you have a complimentary load, the rifle itself is a tack driver. This is everything a traditional wood stocked hunting rifle should be. Full stop. I've shot Remingtons, Winchesters, Rugers... Even a Weatherby. Loved them all. The Tikka is a better experience than all of them. The only modification I made was a limb saver recoil pad. I'm getting too old to take the beating, and this gun is just fun to shoot. It's a nice refreshing step back from all the plastic and M-lok that cover the shelves these days. If I had any complaints, I wish the barrel twist was just a little faster. I like to send heavy bullets down range, and the twist rate seems a little more tuned towards the medium weights. I've had good luck with 180gr, but am a little concerned to go over 200.

Terrific price on this most excellent Tikka T3 8mm Mauser rifle. The 8mm cartridge is under appreciated here in America but if you can ever get hold of one you'll love those big slugs it can toss! Excellent Tikka quality, design, and accuracy. Thank you BUD's!
