I needed new 9mm ammo and wanted to get a single brand for range use and possible bullseye competition. After doing a lot of internet research, I concluded that Blazer 115 grain 9mm would be a fine choice. It received high recommendations for accuracy, consistency, and reliability. And Bud’s price was competitive. I highly recommend it.

A:This is excellent range ammo. But you'd want to use hollow points for your deffensive/carry ammo. The problem with the Blazer brass for self deffense is that it is ball ammo, and with ball ammo against an attacker it is more prone to pass right through your target and not expand, where a hollow point will expand, expansion makes a larger hole and will dump more energy, meaning you'll do more damage to your target and get a faster stop and have less chance of overpenatration. Overpenatration is bad because your legally and morally responsible for every bullet that leaves your pistol, so you want to insure the bullets stay in your attacker and don't hit bystanders.See 3 more answers |
Out of the ammo buds has for deffense
Id go critical deffense

Or Barnes Vortex is a really good defensive round to.

But the Blazer brass is a great option for range/practice -

A:Blazer Brass, Federal T&P, and Seller and Belliot are my preferred range ammo.See 3 more answers |
I usually get 124gr because thats the weight of my defensive ammo, ( the bullets/projectile comes in different weights, which will slightly change the recoil impulse, and for some guns certain weights cycle more reliably) the 115gr should still cycle fine as Beretta makes high quality firearms.
Also because you said your a newer shooter just going to point out that this is range and target practice ammo, if your pistol is filling a home defense role or Every day carry (EDC) you will want to look into getting some hollow points as these are far more effective at stopping threats, ball ammo when shooting a soft target will pass right through causing damage to anything it hits but not much more, a hollow point expands and causes alot more damage as the the expansion causes the bullet to mushroom and effect more tissue and organs. Which will lead to a faster stop of threats.
For good defensive ammo id recommend Federal HST, Speer GoldDot, or Hornady critical Defense.
Defensive ammo costs a bit more then range ammo so you still train and practice with ball ammo like the Blazer Brass but its good to have a quality hollow point for incase you need it. -
