Fantastic pistol. Nice trigger with great Trapezoid sights. I have taken this to all my classes and concealed carried it as well. My only gripe is that the slide stop is very small and can be hard to depress.

It's a glock, but not. The stubby slide means very low bore axis relative to your hand, but also means fewer shops willing to mill it for an optic. The stock irons are very fast at close range, but can be harder to use at longer distances. Glock-type rail for lights and etc., fits a TLR-7 or similar nicely. Trigger is okay, nothing to write home about. The trigger safety blade recesses, rather than hinges like a Glock does - I prefer this, YMMV. The primary issue I take with this handgun is it occasionally fails to return fully to battery after a press check or similar. This does not happen when a cartridge cycles the firearm. Lockup appears good, but the slide will noticeably jolt forward during dry fire when this happens. It's a dealbreaker on my defensive gun. Fun range pistol, pleasant ergos, but it needs improvement. Maybe the A2 model fixed this issue, I don't know.

This is an excellent firearm. I bought one for myself, then purchased another for my wife. We’ve shot well over 1,000 rounds each at the range and never experienced any issues.

This pistol was on my short list of “must haves” since I saw it featured in a gun magazine years ago and it doesn’t disappoint. The ergonomics are incredible: comfortable to shoot and naturally presents on target making point shooting a snap, nice trigger, and combined with the extended beaver tail makes for a very flat shooter. Break down is super easy too. Currently the back up pistol on my chest rig. Recommended for sure.

I love how low this pistol sits in my hand. Tri sights are different from what I'm used to but I have no issues getting on target with them. The trigger is very nice and smooth. Wall break and reset is outstanding. Very concealable for CCW. Weight is very light. reminds me of the weight of my Glock 45. I'm happy with this purchase

This has to be the best "right out of the box" pistol I have ever purchased. Steyr has really given us a great shooter with the super low borax and excellent stock trigger combined with their unique triangular sights, makes the M1A9 one of the easiest and accurate guns to shoot right out if the box. You can literally unbox and go straight to the range with, and then have fun shooting all day... I have cycled marbles through this thing and it just shoots it all... I am a long time HK fan and own 3 of them, and now I am happy to say that I am a Steyr fan as well.

What a great gun! Steyr just rocks..feels great in the hand..so well balanced.. feels like an extension of your arm..took a magazine or two to get use to the sights but Wow I love them... you cant get a better or more accurate gun out of the box..if you haven't tried Steyr it's about time you did

This is the first gun that I've bought but not the first gun I've used. And I can say beyond the benefit of a doubt that this handgun is the best I've ever used. The grip fits my hand like a glove, the grip itself could use a slightly better material to improve the grip but as is its great, and the sights are unique. Shooting using three-dot sights have always been hit-or-miss for me (pardon the pun), the trapezoidal sight on the Steyr is nothing but easy to use! I could go on longer but I'll end it here. I do recommend this pistol.

A gem if a pistol. Recoil is minimal, ergo’s are great, build quilty is very good. Looks can be decieving and this is an example of function over asthetics.

In my search for a high capacity 9mm i came across the steyr. very hard to beat the quality for the price. the more range time i get with it the more i'm impressed with the grip,sights,ergos,trigger. it's a great handling pistol.

This is a very nice shooting gun. The gun has a low bore axis,making it easy to control. I have shot 800 rounds without any FTE or problems of any kind . The sights were very accurate right out of the box. I am very happy with my purchase .

I bought the Steyr M9-A1, I've put about 400 rounds through it so far and it has run perfectly. I really love this pistol! I am a small 62 year old woman with "old hands" so I was looking for a 9mm pistol I could grip well and with low felt recoil. This Steyr was a perfect choice!! I shoot this pistol better than any other pistol I own, getting tight, fist-sized groupings right out of the box. The grip fits my hand like a glove but was a little slick so I added a Tylon grip, which made it perfect. This gun is a VERY flat shooter and the recoil is no more than my tiny Sig P238. I got everything I was looking for with this Steyr and more. Fantastic grip, low recoil, two 17 round mags, I even love the trapezoid sights. I cannot say enough nice things about it, I really LOVE it! This was my first purchase from Bud's and it will not be my last. My gun arrived fast and the transaction was fast and easy. Thanks Bud's!

Really great service from Buds as, as always! The Steyr is awesome. I've wanted one for a while because of some great reviews I've watched and read and it really lives up to them. Fires really flat with minimum recoil and so easy to get back on target. Great!!

Steyr pistols are way underrated, If you haven't shot one yet you should. For this price these pistols are super accurate with really nice triggers., I like the trapezoidal sights as well.

The Steyr M9-A1 is such a dream to shoot. Feels great in the hand and makes me a better shooter. And working with Buds has been equally rewarding. Easy checkout and delivery to my FFL. So please buy a Steyr let’s get more of them out there and if you buy one buy it from Buds.

As of the writing of this review, the Steyr A1 series of pistols are my favorite. This M9-A1 is by all means not a new firearm. I think they were released in the late 90's, and have just failed to gain the popularity they are due. I currently own an HK VP9, Glock 19 Gen 3, Walther PPQ M2, CZ P10c, Smith & Wesson M&P 2.0, and several single stack 9mm's. This gun shoots the best out of them all, in my opinion. If Steyr could only release the trapezoidal sights with tritium, this gun would be perfect. The trigger break is on par or better than every pistol I've mentioned except the PPQ, but this gun has much less muzzle flip, which gives much quicker follow up shots. Although lacking the modularity of the VP9 grip the A1 series of pistols just seems to fit perfectly. I thought I would hate the non-tactile, non-audible trigger reset while handling the firearm but after shooting it, it's really become a non-issue. If anyone has not had the opportunity to shoot one of these I highly recommend remedying that as soon as possible.

Best handgun ive ever owned. The thing is smooth and accurate. I love the sights too. If you arent into the trapezoid sights then you can buy 3 dot sights from the steyr website but i have found no issues using the trapezoids. I just got it recently and have put 200 rounds in it and havent had a single problem yet. Ive heard of people having issues with extraction as well as the slide not returning fully into battery but so far i havent had any issue like that. Definitely recommend this gun!

Love dealing with Buds great service and prices. Took my M9-A1 out day one and put 200 rounds through the pistol without a single hiccup. This pistol was awesome! It does have a few quirks but despite these, the pistol is a joy to shoot. The trapezoidal sights are different but easy to master. I actually liked them and had no problem putting rounds on the mark after a few mags of practice. The trigger is smooth and crisp however it's reset is silent and unlike any of my other handguns. Some folks will not like the trigger reset but after many rounds, you get used to it. Its low bore axis makes for great control and reduced recoil. The grip is awesome. All in all, this is a great pistol and rivals some of my others including my beloved HK VP9.

I wanted an off-brand Glock, and this pistol serves that role very well. To me, the shape of its trigger is much more comfortable than that of a Glock, and it's crisper and lighter, as well. It feels good in the hand and points very naturally. With well over 1,000 rounds of 9mm of varying quality, I've had zero stoppages of any kind. If you're on the fence about this gun, go for it. You won't regret it. This is a gun that you'll keep.

Buds shipping was lightning fast. Took this out to the range and put 200 rounds through it without a single hiccup. Very comfortable. The sights are easy to get used to, and if you don't like the trapezoid design then you can get some replacement 3 dot post sights. Highly recommended

you will not find a better 9mm for this kind of money than the STEYR M9-A1 9MM. the M9-A1 has natural feel in the hand, the trapezoidal sights are easy to get used to, the trigger is absolutely awesome, was putting rounds center mass straight out of the box. all in all I would take this over SIG or Glock any day.

HUGE Steyr fan here. Love the quality, love the trigger, love the grip. Reasonable cost. Very simple to maintain. Very dependable (own the S, L, and now M-series in 9mm). I also like the trapezoidal sights. Highly recommend you check Steyr out. And Bud's is great...as always.

Just received my new Steyr M9-A1 9MM. Can't wait to get it to the range. I know it will perform flawlessly just like my S9-A1, C9-A1 and M357-A1 so I am giving it a 5 star rating ahead of the range test. Love my Steyr pistols.
