• Q: Is this steel or aluminum frame? Description says aluminum but I think its actually steel frame?

  John, no real difference other than the "Grips" and the Barrel Length. They are almost identical otherwise.

• Q: was this gun manufactured before or after the recall?

  Debra, the only way to know the date of manufacture is via serial number. You can try calling Buds to inquire on this at (859) 368-0371 (available 9AM to 9PM EST Monday through Friday). In any event, Ruger will correct the pistol regardless. https://ruger.com/dataProcess/markIVRecall/
• Q: For numerous reasons I have narrowed my new purchase to a Ruger Mark IV 22/45 Lite (which is the model I'd prefer) or a Mark IV Hunter (or Target). The lite seems "more fun" watching YouTube videos however nowhere can I find information on how much more accurate the target or Hunter is because of the barrel lengths. My interests are fun plinking yet I want something of high accuracy. Thoughts ?

  Go with the Hunter. All of them are a pain to takedown and reassemble though.

• Q: is the ruger mark iv hunter item 40118 subject to recall?

  If the serial number begins with 500 or higher and the safety is marked with a white dot "S" it should be either the newer model (500) Series or the updated trigger version (White dot "S") This is what Ruger says anyway. I am waiting for the 500 series Competition version to buy.
