HKP30 Overview

First introduced in 2006, the HK P30 is Heckler & Koch\'s cutting edge sidearm for the police and security purposes. First called the P3000, because of the added improvements to its predecessor the P2000, it was later dubbed the P30. This DA/SA pistol has the Browning type tilt barrel action, short recoil firing system. It is a high capacity, staggered magazine semi automatic pistol. The lower frame is made of a polymer, while the upper slide assembly is machine milled out of solid steel construction. The P30 has an exposed hammer, allowing for what I believe lends itself to better accuracy on the first round. The P30 is furnished with a “3 dot predominant rear sight” configuration, that is easily used and is pleasant for virtually any shooter to use. Though the front sight is fixed, the rear sight is dovetailed, and is flexible for windage.



The ergonomics of the HK P30 is something that the company certainly takes pride in delivering. H&Ks attention to detail is self evident in this masterpiece of a pistol. Sure, like other companies offerings, the P30 sports \"tradable\" backstraps, but no other company offers exchangeable grip side panels. This unique ability, combined with the textured finish, give the P30 a “glove fit” type of feeling the first time you pick it up. When it feels that good, it increases the accuracy due to the fact that the pistol comes up to the same “point of aim” every time. When combined with the MIL-STD-1913 Picatinny rail, located on the underside of the barrel, front side of the trigger guard, it is plain to see that this is the ultimate pistol for all seasons.
