Marlin 336 Overview

The Marlin 336 brags exemplary smooth lines with simply enough strong hints to tell you it implies business, and that it is a manly workhorse of a firearm. At approximately 7 pounds, the weight of the 336 does not make it cumbersome or unwieldy. It really snaps to the shoulder; and the overall design of this rifle makes it feel perfect in balance. The Marlin\'s lever action is ergonomically friendly and smooth. The trigger is completely pleasant to use and borders on incredible as it cleanly breaks over without any creep. Its mobility, lighter weight, and its overall usability have earned it a spot close and dear to the seekers\' souls since it’s introduction in 1948. The rifle\'s exquisite straightforwardness and unwavering quality, combined with hard hitting 30-30 and .35 Remington cartridges, make it an extremely desirable for hunting and for protection against four-legged and two-legged critters.

The 336 has a push through safety that blocks the firing pin from accidental discharge, along with an engagement button located to where the lever must be completely depressed against the stock before firing. The receiver is bored and tapped for a variety of different scope bases, and Marlin has smartly incorporated a hammer spur to permit you to get to the hammer with this extension mount when a scope is in use. The spur extension can be mounted on either side of the hammer and attaches with an Allen screw and an included wrench.

The Model 336 is cosmetically pleasant and has a brown overlaid hardwood stock that covers both the buttstock and forearm. The forearm of the weapon is fairly full, which makes it feel great in the hand, particularly with gloves on. It is pleasantly complemented with the Marlin point checkering. The 336 is available in a 20 in and 24 in. barrel with an overall length of 38.5 in and 42.25 in respectively. Though it has been available in several different calibers, it currently is offered only in the 30-30 Win. and .35 Remington. The micro-groove barrel is the standard of accuracy with Marlin Firearms. The ejection and chambering port is located on the right hand side of the receiver. The rifle is tube fed, and since its introduction in 1948, some 6 million of these great rifles have been manufactured.
