Remington 870 Overview

The Remington 870 is a pump-action shotgun that was first introduced in 1951. The Remington model 32 was struggling against the sales of the ever popular Winchester model 12. The effort of Remington was to introduce an affordable shotgun that would be rugged, reliable, and yet streamlined……..enter the model 870. By 1973, sales on the 870 reached 2 million (compared to 200,000 of the model 31). Realizing it was a winner, and adding the “Express” line in 1996, sales soared to 7 million, and by April 2009 they reached over 10 million.
