Savage Mark II Overview

The day of hearing self-proclaimed gun gurus say, “Oh, it’s just a Savage,” has long since been forgotten. Savage Arms are has earned the reputation of producing some of the most accurate and durable rifles on the market today. The Savage Mark II has long been touted as one of the better .22 Long Rifle bolt actions out there. The Mark II can be obtained at a relatively low-priced entry level, all the way to up to where you request overtime work to pay for it. The Savage Mark II covers almost every bolt action .22 demand. If you are more desirous of a magnum rimfire, the Savage Model 93 nicely covers that market in both .22 magnum and .17HMR. There are at least three dozen different versions, certainly more than any other rimfire producer that comes to mind, with as many as twenty of them being in their bolt action 22 Long Rifle.



The Savage MKII TR 22 weighs in at 7.5 lbs without the scope. It is 40 inches in length with the 22 inch 1/16 twist fluted heavy barrel. The stock is reminiscent of a McMillan style stock, with a relaxed pistol grip, and a shape that makes you want to take it out for dinner and drinks. It is made of hardwood with a flat black crinkle coated appearance, with an obliging finish on the metal coverings, also in flat black. There is one 5-round magazine that snuggles into the receiver and enables the tactical sized bolt to feed flawlessly.



No doubt one of Savage’s most enduring charms is its “accu-trigger”. The accu-trigger is a fantastic, lite, brisk and adjustable trigger which has gained popularity, and assures that every round fired is just like your breakfast eggs……...it breaks easy, and can be prepared anyway that you like it.
