Walther P22 Overview

First introduced in 2003, the Walther P22 was a game changer for Walther, borrowing from the tactical style and performance design ideas from the highly successful line of Walther center fire pistols, and applying them in P22. This revolutionary design in contemporary rimfire handguns, created a new market, in which other gunmakers would struggle to imitate its design. Walther P22 is available in two barrel configurations, standard 3.4 inch, and the target barrel at 5 inches. When it comes to style, the color frames and slide finishes are available in a variety of choices, of course the primary being the black frame and blued slide. With all of the combinations that are available, it is easy for your P22 to almost have that “one of a kind” appearance. The exterior design of Walther P22 is similar to Walther PK380 compact handgun. The pistol can quickly empty the 10-rounds of .22LR ammunition from its single-stack magazine. The double action Walther P22 has a slide mounted, thumb operated ambidextrous safety, along with an external hammer. The design of magazine release mechanism is different from the usual semi-automatic pistol, but is certainly ambidextrous in nature as it is centrally located at the rear spot of the trigger guard. The Walther P22 weighs in at 15 ounces and is built with conventional Double-Action/Single-Action (DA/SA) trigger. It means that the first shot can be fired with the hammer uncocked while the double-action trigger must cock the hammer first. The trigger pull in double-action is about 11 pounds, while the single-action breaks cleanly at approximately 4 lbs. The overall length is about 6.3 inches, a height of 4.5 inches and width of 1.1 inches. A person that appreciates a gun with sophisticated design will really like the Walther P22.
