love the 300 win mag wanted a all weather rifle that won't break the bank and this fit the bill perfect. Very accurate with all my hand loads.

Very happy with the rifle and as always, Bud's Gun Shop. Was invited to go CO elk hunting this fall so this was an opportunity to purchase a 300 Win Mag that I had wanted for some time. The rifle has a 26 inch barrrel and a 2 inch muzzle brake, making for an overall 28 inch barrel. I personally wanted the 26 inch minimum barrel to give the slower magnum powders time to burn fully. The brake makes this a pleasant gun to shoot...as opposed to the 35 Whelen primitive weapon deer season gun I have with a 24 inch barrrel that kicks hard and is not fun at sight-in time...this rifle is nothing like that. Have a Leupold 4.5 to 14X scope and rings on this. For those who reload, I got three shots inside a 1.5 inch diameter circle at 100 yards, shooting off sandbags, starting with a cold and clean barrel that was being broken in. That result using Nosler reloading book's "most accurate load" of 68 grains RL17, 190 gr Nosler Accubond Long Range, WinMag primers, Win Brass. The overall load length was 3.51 inches, which is the longest I found that the magazine would accept...so that gives around .150 extra length beyond the SAAMI load specs. On the lands OAL measurement for this bullet was approximately 3.6 inches. I think I can get inside an inch diameter circle by shooting a cold barrel with each shot. I am limiting myself to three successive shots to keep barrel temp reasonable. Had similar results with H1000/IMR 7828SSC powder and a couple of Berger 180 grain bullets. IMR 7828SSC produced velocities within 10-15 FPS and want to experiment more with that powder. Trigger adjustments are simple IAW the owner's manual and I did adjust the trigger softer. After about 30 rounds thru the rifle, this rifle is better than what I was expecting from a production grade hunting rifle in the 7-8 pound weight class without scope. Look forward to hunting with it.

Buds is the first place I look to purchase a gun, 10+ purchases and have always been satisfied with them. This is my 3rd Weatherby. Went to my range, sighted in and was only able to get 1.25 inch groups, but this was with Federal 180gr Power Shok ammo (also I was running a patch every couple of shots). When I reload my own, I am sure it will be sub moa. The brake makes it easy to shoot - I was able to shoot 40 rounds and could have shot more. The action was smooth and the trigger was a crisp 3.5 lbs. Overall, I am happy with this one and I definitely recommend.
