Now this is one sweet sixteen! 28 inch barrels, 5 choke tubes, selective auto ejectors, walnut stock & forearm, with an engraved reciever! Very light to carry in the field. A super nice over & under for a great price. Buds had it in stock at the best price I could find. thank you Jeff

As usual Buds had what I needed and got it to Me fast. NOT the best price I found a better deal later but free shipping so worked out. Stevens 555 E in 16 guage. Look good haven’t shot them yet I will later in the week. The action is a little stiff to open they will break in but fit and finish are really good and these things handle well. Taking them on a qual hunting trip in a few months and will review more then .

The bad:
The fit and finish between the wood of the stock and the receiver was poor in a few places. I had to file down to remove a sharp point behind the trigger guard and scape out excess metal stuck in the cracks between the stock and receiver. Two of the chokes had slots which had metal overhang that could be seen from through the barrel from the receiver end. I cleaned them up with a fine file. I called Savage about extra chokes for the 16 gauge and they said they weren’t listed in their system as stocked items and suggested Trulock Chokes. I couldn’t find anything in 16 gauge Beretta-Benelli Chokes at Trulock or Carlsons.
The good:
The wood for the stock and fore-end look nice. The etchings on the receiver are nice for the price of the gun. The release lever for opening is easy to operate and when closed goes back to the center. I have two other Turkish made shotguns where the lever didn’t come close to aligning properly when the action was closed. The opening and closing works very well after cleaning and lubrication. The gun is lightweight and swings well for me. I would still buy the gun even with the quality control issues because of the price, the very limited availability of new 16 gauge shotguns, and the feel of the gun in my hands.

I have bought a couple Turkish guns in the past between 500 and $550. It is worth paying a little more for this Stevens 16 gauge. The Walnut is very nice and the fit is out of the box great. While it is not a Citori, that Pheasant ain't going to know the difference! A great gun and great service from buds.

This was my second purchase from Buds and I am still happy. This gun shipped fast and had no defects. Probably the best firearm I own.

Just bought this gun from Bud's and I must say it is very nice for the price. I took it out the other evening to try it at the trap range and it handled wonderfully. I've owned other Turkish made guns and it seemed all were roughly built with heavy trigger pulls. This one fires smoothly and will work good in the field. Both triggers were very smooth and the gun handled fast and smooth. It is a lightweight field gun but I wouldn't hesitate to use in for sporting clays or maybe skeet. The engraving adds a nice touch, too. My main purpose for this shotgun will be pheasant, quail, grouse and woodcock hunting. This gun should carry easily all day with it's light weight. The choice of supplied chokes is a plus for any shooting situation. Stevens built a great field 16 gauge that looks nice and handles sweet. It's a keeper.
