Springfield Armory is proud to introduce the Ronin Operator, a rugged and reliable 1911 pistol. Configured as a full-size 5" gun, the Ronin Operator features a forged steel slide and frame as well as a hammer-forged barrel. The pistol has a two-tone finish, with a stainless steel forged frame and a forged slide of carbon steel. The flats of both the slide and frame are polished, with a matte finish applied to the rest of the pistol. In addition, the carbon steel slide features a hot salt bluing treatment.

I love Springfield 1911's and have had 14 of them come and go over my years into shooting. This one is incredibly attractive, is well finished, and has an excellent trigger/sights. That said, for whatever reason this one must be a lemon as I have 350 rounds through it so far and its jammed in various different ways 7 times now. I've adjusted the extractor (to hopefully fix the extracting jams) and am hoping its other issues clear up in the next range trip, but so far I've been disappointed. Thankfully, Springfield has a good lifetime warranty program so I'm sure they'll get me squared away. I've sent guns to them in the past for minor tweaking and they're very fast to respond. I'd still give this gun 5 stars, as I've had numerous other Springfield 9mm's with zero issues. I think I just got a bad one. One bad one out of 14 is pretty good.

A Springfield Armory classic. Gorgeous heirloom quality firearm. Fit and finish is excellent. Very accurate 5 inch barrel with ergonomic grip for comfortable, confident control. As usual, the experience at Bud's was quick, efficient and satisfying.

First off, Budsgunshop was awesome, they shipped this quick as usual and were very easy to go through for the purchase. However, the gun itself took some work. I know 1911s generally need a breakin period, however for the first 600 rounds using mags ranging from Wilson, to Tripp, to Chip mcormic, and mecgar, I'd have all kinds of failure to eject, and stovepipe. After some reading, I found that I had to tune my extractor. Once I found some videos online on how to do this, I got it working 100% reliably now with 400 rounds run through after the fix, to verify function. Beside the issues I ran into, it's a good looking gun that shoots very nice, recoil on this is minimal, and the trigger is very crisp and light. The fiber optic front sight is nice as long as ambient light is plenty.

Beautiful and classic. You gotta love a 1911. The thing just oozes quality craftsmanship. Very accurate. Smooth slide and recoil. Somewhat picky with Ammo (hence 4 stars). Love the trigger and trigger reset. Did I mention Very Accurate? Comes with one mag, but you can order after market and they work just fine.

What a sweet 1911! Trigger is crisp and smooth. I've been shooting Glocks and Springfield striker fired pistols, and it's amazing to put an all metal 1911 in your hands. The first thing I noticed was the difference in weight. It shoots like a dream and no issues whatsoever after about 250 rounds. Bud's came through as usual and it hit UPS the day after I paid for it! Love Bud's!

A quality gun. It shot dead on and was truly reliable. Being a perfectionist, I can't leave it alone, I added grips, extended mag release, and mag well. A lighter variable rate recoil spring for light loads and did a trigger job. 3.5 pounds and smooth. Springfield on the right, Tisas I also bought from buds got more added but also works great.

The 1911 is beautiful and the price was very good. I expect this Springfield to be a shooter. We shall see.

Excellent Firearm, Really Good fit and Finish. This firearm has really good recoil management. I shot this back to back with my Kimber Custom II and Glock 19. Note The Springfield is a bit smoother in operation, however make sure that you know that the Springfield has been setup for a 6 o’ clock hold. The Ronin has combat sights setup for 15 to 25 yards. If you are within 5 to 7 yards your poa/ poi will be off by 2-3 inches. Remember If you are buying this just for within 5-7 yards, you might want to get with Springfield Customer Service and swap over to Target sights for a covered hold with poa/poi.
