Patrick, this is both double and single action. So you can pull the hammer back for a nice light single action trigger pull or just pull the trigger for a quick but long and heavy double action pull. Timothy, 3 dot sights are your most common style sights. You will have one dot on the front sight and two dots on your rear sight. When aiming you just have to line up the front dot in-between the two rear sight dots. You can just Google ( white dot sight images ) to view pictures. Hope this helps.
