I purchased this firearm about a year ago for many reasons, including Springfield's reputation, the Crimson Trace red dot and overall value. I was expecting to be pleased but am actually amazed how much I like it. First, from a reliability standpoint I have trained with it alot, over 1,000 rounds of target ammo without a single fail. I was new to the red dot but once I figured it out, I find it makes target acquisition quick and easy. The firearm feels good with both the 7 and 9 round mags and I shoot equally as well with either. I've seen other reviews that are negative about the trigger pull but I don't find it to be an issue because it's easy to feel when it's ready to break and the reset is very positive. From overall value and performance standpoint, it deserves the 5 stars.

Great full size version of the compact XD-S mod 2, perfect for range practice, and still small enough to carry very easily if you don't like the compact version, well worth the price with the optional red dot!

Springfield makes good guns. I prefer the 1911s but this was priced good enough for the night stand.
