Item arrived and looked like a well finished firearm. Included two FN magazines. Took it to the range after a light clean up and oiling. Fired 115 gr hardball new ammo. Gun jammed after the first 2 or 3 shots. This happened repeatedly with both the included FN magazines, and a third FN new magazine purchased at the time the gun was picked up. Additionally, the gun failed to lock the slide back with the last round on each of the three FN Mags. {I mention that they are new FN made magazines, not aftermarket brands} The spent rounds remained partially in the throat of the barrel or ended up on top of the next round in the magazine, either way jamming the gun. Hard to believe all three FN mags were defective, but whatever the case, the gun will be going back to FN to fix whatever is wrong. Something is not right about their quality control when you have that kind of issue with a new gun, that has been in production for a number of years, so no excuse to say it is a brand new design. Gun was comfortable to shoot when it did chamber and fire a round, and felt well balanced. It is 4 or 5 Oz., heavier than a traditional Hi Power, and the frame and slide is slightly larger. I have seen a number of YouTube where the gun fired all types of ammo and did not jam, and was described as more reliable than the original design. However, this particular gun was anything but reliable, as I literally was unable to get more than 2 or at best 3 shots off before a jam took place. I also had a WWII Canadian Inglis Hi Power along at the range as well, and it fully functioned firing the same ammo, so it wasn't the ammo.

Important to remember - NOTHING Browning High Power fits this gun - not holsters, grips or any accessories. The FN is larger and the grip is of a different design. Speaking of the grip, for a gun at this price point I really expected more than a thin piece of plastic. The black on black hides how cheap the grip really is but the extra brown plastic grips FN provides just make the gun look like a kid's toy. The finish is also disappointing - it is easily smudged matte black that looks dull and worn. It does perk up after polishing with an oil cloth but I have many guns that cost less with nicer finishes. Functionally, the gun is excellent - well balanced, easy to shoot, the size and weight make recoil a non-issue. I am not a fan of black on black sights but, assuming you can see them, the gun is accurate out of the box. The 17 round mags feed perfectly. For a gun this size, it is easy to carry with the proper holster. Overall, I describe it as an excellent cross between a Beretta FS and a 1911 DS.

Having received my Hi power I went right to the range with 150 rounds to see if my impressions of this gun were correct. The answer is a resounding YES. Excellent feel in my hand the gun points well and the recoil pulse on the gun is very minimal at best. Back on target time was very fast for follow up shots. No malfunctions occurred using a variety of ammo. The take down procedure is much easier for cleaning and the manual safety has a nice tactile feel and snap to it like a really good 1911. From a company who created the Hi Power and now brought it back with some very favorable upgrades was a good move. I realize for some they have to stay in the traditional make up of this gun but to me making these upgrades only honors this gun more by staying competitive with other manufacturers who are also putting out the Hi power design. This FN model is the only clear choice for enhanced quality that you would expect from the original manufacture. The British SAS should take a hard look at this new FN as they carried the Hi power for many years. Now that would be tradition if the SAS went back to this upgraded model for service/deployment. If you are tired of all the Tupperware variants out there and want a metal frame gun that has a fantastic legacy and proven performance consider this Hi power. After serving 22 years in Special Operations I have deployed with a number of guns from different manufacturers which served me very well. If I was given the chance to deploy with this FN I would have absolutely no reservations and complete confidence with it after spending some range time which I plan to much more of. It is a larger gun and I will use this for EDC as I prefer service grade barrel lengths 4 to 5 inch barrels which are not that difficult to conceal if you know what you are doing. I'm not a fan of micro guns except for paper weights. This FN is absolutely worthy of consideration. Give it a look

I own the MCP35 and the SA-35 along with this FN High Power. The FN is the clear winner hands down. The redesigned beaver tail is fantastic with my larger hands. I mean c'mon it's an FN after all. BUY IT.

This was a high demand, low supply firearm. I looked for months to locate one. Buds came through and offered this Fn High a power 9mm for a cost below the Fn MSRP! The purchase process was easy and it was shipped to a FFL in less than 72 hours. I will purchase all my firearms through Buds in future.
