I like the weight on this thing but I didn't realize that it's not 100% metal. The handle is completely polymer, which is a bit disappointing. Also I got some light primer misfires with TUL ammo with this but the 1911 ran them all flawlessly so I switched out the firing pin and recoil spring, which was recommended by enthusiasts. Haven't been back to the range after those upgrades, though.

With a red Atlas Gunworks trigger, a Dawson Precision Guide Rod, a EGW Magwell and MBX Magacines... and it was very close to perfection.

Great gun. I know there has been some cons about this, but i have had no problems. Shoots flat, takes any ammo i have fed it. As for buds, fantastic. Its my second gun with them. Best price, quick ship. They are my new go when considering another purchase or just to reference prices.

I wanted this gun when it was previewed. I wanted a 2011 style pistol that was affordable. After watching/reading many of the reviews I knew that the 5" Prodigy has lost of reported issues. However, most who said they sent it back to Springfield got back a gun with the issues resolved. I do feel that Springfield should not have released the gun with issues, but even knowing this I bought it anyway. It's first time at the range I experienced all the different reported issues. So, I sent it back to Springfield for warranty repair and about 2 weeks later I got it back. Since then, I've not had a single failure and I ran all types of ammo from dirty, cheap range ammo all the way to expensive stuff and it shoots like a dream. It is very accurate and out of all my pistols it is my favorite to shoot. I really love this pistol. My advice is to buy this pistol. I've heard that a lot of the issues have been resolved in the later production runs, but even if they were not and you had to immediately send it to Springfield, I would still advise you to buy this gun.

I received the Prodigy a few days ago every thing looked great in the box. I took it to the range and ran a variety of ammo through it (+- 200). Ran great no hiccups, handles nice, not a fan of fixed sights but the shot to point of aim so no problems with accuracy. The only 2 issues I have are for a firearm of this quality the trigger is pretty meh..... and when shooting I like riding the thumb safety (they are very thin on this firearm) so my thumb was rubbing against the slide. Otherwise it looks and shoots like a much more expensive firearm so a great value for your money especially if you are going to do any of the action shooting sports. And Buds handled the transaction like the Pros they are :)

Springfield knocked it out of the ballpark once again!!!!! I took my Prodigy to the range the day after I received it and it didn't have any FTEs or FTBs! This pistol has been getting some pretty negative press but I had no problem with mine at all! Buds sent my purchase and it made it to the FFL within 2 and a half days!!!!! Love buds gun shop!!!!!
