SDS Tisas 1911 CARRY B45 .45 ACP 4.25 ENHANCED 8RD EB BOBTAIL - 8+1 Rounds

2.5 Stars - Expectations were high for my first Tisas. First immediate impression was the rattling sound from the gun. After a field strip and wiping off the factory oil, it shot 100 Browning 230 gn FMJ through the two included Mec-Gar magazines. Within the first 100 rounds, I noticed the grips were loose and shifting: the screws were loose enough to finger-tighten. I also noticed zero checkering or grip enhancements: Nothing on the front of the grip nor on the mainspring housing. The Cerakote finish on this gun looks better and is more durable than RIA's parkerized finish. However, the finish is so smooth and because it lacks anything to help grip the gun firmly: It is difficult to get a consistent purchase on the grip without it sliding in your hands. Rather than spend money at my local gunsmith to checker and refinish the mainspring housing (and possibly the front of the grip) - I added rubber grip tape that helps. (Cheap guns get cheap solutions) Turned out the "rattle" sound was from the grip safety. After tightening the Grip Safety Spring = rattle problem improved. Then after a full breakdown/cleaning/reassembly and another 131 rounds fired, there were two failures to feed. One FTF with Russian Steel case ammo another FTF with Federal JHP. It is worth noting both failures happened on the last round feeding from the same Kimber magazine. It is also worth noting both grips came loose and slipped again with all four grip screws coming very loose. I used the screwdriver on a Swiss army knife at the range and scratched off some of the finish from the grip screw. Frame fit is good - no better than other import guns in the same price range. Bushing fit is very good and barrel link fit is great. Initial trigger pull averaged 5.46lbs - after brief polishing/honing of a few contact points and adjusting the sear spring- I quickly brought it to a consistent 4lb trigger pull. Factory sights leave a lot to be desired. Trigger has no overtravel screw. Gun looks great to me. Shoots well after adding grip enhancements. Reliability is good. Relief cut in grip for access to magazine release is deep enough that there is no need for an extended magazine release. I really want to give this gun more stars, but it leaves so much to be desired. The extended grip safety protrudes too much and feels uncomfortable in my hand, the lack of ANY sort of grip enhancements/improvements makes it hard to feel confident while shooting. Grip screws coming loose is a first for me. I ordered a single thumb safety as a personal preference over the ambi-safety. Gun also conceals better with a flush magazine. Update - Tisas brand single-sided thumb safety arrived this weekend. Semi-drop in fit (needed minor fitting). Turns out the stock Ambi-safeties were extended and Tisas doesn't offer an extended single-sided thumb safety. (I ordered a Wilson Combat like I should have initially). The grip safety is rattling again as I walk around today. I really want to like this gun, but it needs a lot of work and money to become a really good gun. Heavy gun, good shooter, leaves so much to be desired 2.5 Stars

This is my second Tisas. First was the identical Manta Ray with the 5” barrel. Again great fit and finish. And super fast shipping by Buds. I don’t think you’ll be disappointed if you grab a Tisas 1911. I have the Sting Ray on layaway and plan on adding all the bobtail Tisas they offer.

This is my third Tisas 1911. They are worth every penny I have spent for them. Of the eight 1911's I own I enjoy shooting these much as I enjoy he more expensive ones. This particular weapon is one that I carry from time to time and I have no worries that it will go boom if required to. I've put over 300 rounds through it and had not a hiccup or a cough. It's accurate enough when running several drills keeping everything in the 9 ring. I use CCI Blazer ammo in it at the range and seems to like it. I have two other "commander" sized 1911's one a Colt and one a Sig one is a little prettier than the Tisas and one has a slightly better trigger but they all fire when required and carry about the same. I wanted to try the Tisas out and figured I'd get rid of it after I tried it. Obviously I was satisfied with my purchase to the point it has taken the place of the Nightmare as an everyday companion. That said I admit that as with every 1911 in the safe I put the mag's that came with it in a box and only use CMC and Wilson Combat magazines. Most problem's I have ever had with a 1911, and I've probably owned 50 of them in my 73 years had to do with the magazines. Accordingly the mag that came with the Tisas is in the aforementioned box. I like the weapon and were I considering another 1911 and wanted a bargain the Tisas would be high on my list.

This is an excellent 1911 from tisas yet again. One of my favorite 1911 companies. Runs like a champ. Do yourself a favor and get some WC magazines. The stock ones aren't bad but out of 5 mags I bought they all run but feel a little sluggish. Still 5/5 the trigger is wayyyy above its weight class. As always buds will get my money for online buying

Very cool firearm, smooth but crisp haven't truly broken it in yet but seems solid. Only thing I can say that I can complain about is that it claims to use "standard 1911 mags". When I went to pick it up, I asked the good ol boy to see what mags will work and I wished to buy extra. Not one of the magazines they had in the store would function in this firearm. Otherwise very good gun.

I love, love, love the way this fits my hand. Mine did not come with Mecgar mags which was a bummer. There was no marking on the magazines saying which brand they are. I shoot cast bullets and had lots of FTF issues, perhaps as I size to .452". Maybe it would never be a problem if I shot factory ammo. But, I was able to fix it. I had to break the edge on the barrel where the cases feed. It was sharp. I polished it up with the good old Dremel. Problem solved.

Absolutely one of the best buys I've made. I've spent a lot more on a 1911 and this one hands down my favorite. Easy transaction, quick delivery after the electronic check cleared.

This has proven to be a stellar performer. I purchased this pistol because I wanted to get back into 1911's and I had not handled one in 33yrs. It all came back to me real quick why I loved the 1911 platform. People call this a budget pistol. It's only budget by virtue of price. I went to the range the day after I received it and it ate all 500 rounds I threw at it from 4 different brands. Got home ordered a BUNCH of Wilson Combat upgrades. A week later back on the range with all the new un-needed upgraded parts installed and oh my damn. 500 more rounds down. So 1,000 rounds in 8 days I love love love this beautiful little tank.
