Cool gun. Has all the features you would want in a modern striker gun: excellent front and rear serrations, optic ready, fiber front and blacked out rear site. I love the trigger shoe but, sadly, the trigger itself is kind of weird and mushy feeling. If I could find a lighter spring for the trigger, it could be acceptable but at the moment it is the one thing limiting the full potential of this gun.

Based on the rebate, I bought this compact as well as the full size. Reviews online were pretty favorable. Nice fit and finish and feels great in my hand. Problem: the compact version after about 300 rds, fails to eject the last round with 5 in the mag. Jams it up so well we need a screw driver to pry out the casing. Happens about every 10-15 rounds. The full size APX has behaved better but is now stove piping. At least thats easy to clear, but still disappointing. Have tried 3 different FMJ brands, and a syntec bullet as well. My Walther PDP that I shoot along side every session has been flawless. I will be contacting Beretta directly to see what they have to say and post accordingly......

I have the full size A1, and I love it. So much so, I had to get the A1 Compact. I am equally satisfied with the Compact and can't wait to install the red dot and get my holster. I will be spending a lot of time with this firearm! - Steven

Fantastic pistol! Beretta build quality, No issues with feed-firing or ejecting. Grip texture locks your hand in, The fiber optic front sight helps with aiming, My only negative is takedown, Getting the takedown button and the takedown lever to engage and move is a challenge. I need to use a nylon punch on the button while getting the lever to move. Not like the M9-92. This struggle is a common complaint in the Beretta forums. Once engaged she breaks down like a M9-92-easy. Cleaning and Reassembly are easy and no issues with the takedown lever. Bottom line I would buy again with no reservation.

I picked up my Baretta APX A1 compact today. Very nice gun. The full size model just a bit to large and the carry just a bit to small. When I saw the compact model I figured I give it a try. Wow! Very nice, and a great price. The magazine loader that came with the gun is a bit awkward to use. The magazine holds only 10 rounds. The loader though cocks the round upward causing the rounds to get stuck in the magazine. The back of the round lodges itself between the wall and the previous round under it, and the nose pointing upward. With my thumb I have to force it down to seat. Seems to load with no problem. Since it was late I was not able to test fire it to see if there maybe other issues with the magazine. As for the rest of the gun it feels good. Overall I think it is a nice gun. A few rounds through it, and I'll up date my review. If your looking for something in-between the full size and the carry this is one to consider.
