The Steyr M9, in short, is everything that the Glock should have been--could have been--but isn't. Superior to the Glock in every way, except for aftermarket support. That is largely the fault of Steyr, who does almost nothing to market this painfully underrated and under appreciated weapon. I love the shape of the trigger guard as well, above anything else in my collection. The trigger is a thing of beauty as well, with the lack of an audible reset the only flaw in an otherwise perfect design. I have only three complaints about the platform. The first, as I already mentioned, is the poor aftermarket support. Second, is the lack of threaded barrel options. You can buy one from the factory, but the cost is insane at almost 400 dollars for JUST the barrel. Also, in true European form, is the lack of red dot options from the factory. I'm not sure why the Europeans shy away from these, but it would make this a superb weapon. Yes, some of commented on the different sight system, but in truth it is better than what you are used to. It takes a little retraining with the different setup, but it allows for far more accurate shot placement and blazing fast acquisition. I'm surprised nobody has adopted this in other models. Magazines are actually reasonable and can be found on sale in the 20 to 25 range with a little patience. So when I saw a sale for 20 bucks, I loaded up in a big way. One of my favorite guns out of the box, and a gun that true pistoleros know and love, despite the lack of marketing by Steyr.

Bought my first Steyr in 05' and loved it so I figured why not get another one. The M9 has the same great quality as previous models with a lot of improvements to grip and ergonomics. I'm very pleased with this purchase. I would like to say that the ODG is more like FDE in my opinion but I'd still buy it if I'd known this before.

Quickly has become one of my favorite handguns. The sights take a little getting used to, but it's a fantastic gun to shoot with the low bore axis and easy-to-reach controls. Great looking gun too!
