Hi. This rifle has been getting a lot of "bad press" concerning it's accuracy. That's why I bought it! I always pick the underdog and see if I can make it shoot to my satisfaction. I even bought a Ruger American 22lr LRT (long Range Target). Even Ruger has given up on this model....Not I. I found the Springfield to have great fit/finish. The only thing I did to mine was give the barrel a good cleaning and applied a thin film of HBN, which I do to EVERY new forearm, regardless of caliber. I mounted one of my 6-24X56 34 mm tube 'spare' scopes and took it to my private range before it got hot. I have several benches and I have one at 35 yards I use just to get a new rifle/scope combination "on paper". I brought 3 brands of ammo with me. Good 'ole CCI SV, Aguilla HV (bulk) and Norma Tac 22 Match. First up was the CCI, to my surprise, the first 2 shots were in the same hole! After using the rest of that magazine to get to the 'shoot n see' target, I fired 10 more shots. It made one ragged hole about 1" in diameter, which seems to be normal for this rifle. I next tried the Aguila, and it was very bad. Lastly, the Norma, which shot an identical group to the CCI. I only fired 5 fouling shots when changing ammo brands, probably could have shot more. I quit because the Florida heat was getting rough, and I wanted to put lower scope rings on it. The first ones were way too high. I put low rings on it today, and I'll be back at the range this weekend. The heat index has been well over 110 degrees with Florida humidity, so it's not too much fun in the afternoon. I have a huge selection of ammo to try, from $.05 per round to $.50 per round to try. Several other owners indicate this rifle seems to like HV ammo, so I got a sleeve of CCI HV to try. After the first session, I added a Trigger Tech Rem 700 trigger and now it's down to slightly less than 2lb. Before it was exactly 4.5 lb, which is way too heavy for my taste. The stock trigger broke clean, just way too heavy. ron
