I purchased the Ruger American Rifle (Gen 2), in part, because I have a fondness for Ruger's ruggedness, but I also appreciate that with this rifle length of pull (LOP) as well as cheek rise could be adjusted. Installation of the Cheek Riser was easy and Ruger Tech Tips on YouTube provide an overview of the installation. I found it an easy swap with the original riser and now can experiment with different cheek weld heights. I have used foam butt stock "socks" but never found them to stay put, flexing to one side or the other. So, I saw the Ruger Cheek Riser Kit as a pracical option and it has proved helpful in getting a good scope image. It also looks quite clean and like the LOP spacer that is available, it gives you and other users options to personalize the rifle's shooting ergonomics. After installing the highest riser, I found cleaning the barrel a bit cumbersome because the riser is in the way of a direct path to the barrel with an aluminum rod. A flexible fiber rod was able to do the job but still not as easily as without any riser in place and a bore snake gets around the problem entirely. On the bench using a non-flexible cleaning rod, it is easy to take out the riser in about 3 minutes or less, which obviously facilitates ease of cleaning. Take a bore snake with you in the field. I thought it worth mentioning because I did not find that info anywhere before purchasing it. In the photo the riser is set to the highest riser option. Note: Because the bolt can be tilted upward, the installed highest riser does NOT impede removal of the bolt. The product was delivered within a reasonable time frame and although the packaging seemd a bit light, everything arrived in great condition. Overall, for me it was an excellent option and I will work with the 3 different heights to find the optimal cheek weld. I would recommend this product and Bud's Gun Shop.
