When I received the rifle, I noticed some of the edges were sharp and the milling could have been better. During my initial shooting, I shot about 140 rounds. two thirds of that, I had to cycle the bolt after ever shot to chamber a new cartridge. I suspected that it might not be getting enough gas to cycle the BCG and pickup another cartridge. I sent it back to Springfield. The replaced the bolt. I shot 300 more rounds and had the same problem, but it was with only one P-Mag. So I think the problem was actually the one P-mag. Other then that, just two things, The handle of the charging handle and where it contacts the upper receiver, I thing needed slight more milling at the contact cut into the metal slightly. The handguard fit was so bad, that I had gaps on both sides. I replaced the handguards with some Midwest Industries Aluminum handguards. I liked them so much, I also bought a pair for my Colt M-16A4 model, but the Colt A-4 handguards had no issues and had a proper fit. I have 10 years military and 33 years law enforcement service. I first fired an M16 variety when I was 17 years old. Springfield has no excuse for the pathetic handguard fir or machining issue. The should be better than that, but the rifle is still good, but again it should be better. I have a lot of experience with AR platform rifles and know it could be better.

Carried the A-2 from 1988 to 1992 in the Army. The 20" barrel shoots soft and I was always able to get along with the A-2's sights. Hit 60 for 60 from 300 to 25 meters at our local range. 600 rounds so far no problems. Going out tomorrow to run it on a zero degree morning. I forsee no issues. Fun and nostalgic for an old 11b.
