Sorry in advance for the long review, I guess a man's love for a fine firearm can make him talkative.. c'mon you know you've done it too. Anyway so, where to start this "glowing" review? I guess the glowing sights I added. The brass front sight it comes with is solid and it is classy but, for a shooter whose eyesight is not what it used to be, I needed a more visible option. And my second upgrade (Yeah, I know, I already heard the boos from my buddies) I took off the wood grips. The wood grips it came with are top notch and so very nice but, I'm just kinda partial to the more ergonomic, overmolded grips. Just those two little changes were all it took to make this fantastic revolver perfect for me. And it is, w/o a doubt, a perfect revolver! Let's talk about it, first up the 9mm cylinder which I guess is the only feature on it that I'm like, meh whatever, on. I guess I'm just not a fan of moonclips, they break, they're expensive and kind of a pain in the butt to load. So yeah it's kind'a neat to be able to use three different rounds in one gun but, that is a novelty that wore off pretty fast, for me atleast. If you don't mind moonclips you'll probably love that about it. Wow, sorry, this is getting long. So I better get to the important stuff, fast. The gun's finnish and function is pretty much perfection. It looks the business and the construction is right on. I couldn't find any points to complain about or any lines that aren't perfect, it's so very well made. Then there's the trigger, it's pretty sweet right out of the box. Bonus points, because with every pull, it's continuing to break in and get even better. How's it shoot? Great! First of all the ported barrel works exactly as advertised. I honestly didn't think the ports would make too much of a difference especially with something like full power 158 grain .357 magnum. Compared to other 3in barrel revolvers this gun's recoil feels like a warm summer breeze, just alot louder. It's accurate and the 7 round cylinder, well that's just gravy at this point. And the cherry on top, it comes with a high quality, lockable travel box. I'd have to double check but, I'm pretty sure it'd be tsa approved. Since I have received the Taurus 692 Executive Grade Revolver, I have been to the range a couple of times with it and I just love this gun. I really like being able to shoot 38 Special and then switch over to 9mm. It is so cool to be able to do that. This will be going to the range every time I go.

This is my first ported barrel gun. I enjoy shooting revolvers, and always wanted to add a revolver to my collection that will shoot 9 mm. I have previously owned one Taurus revolver, the Judge. It was sort of a novelty gun, I would take it to the mountains loaded with .410 shells in case we encountered snakes. I own a Kimber K6S DASA 3 inch barrel and a 6 shot cylinder. The Kimber has a very smooth trigger, right out of the box. Watch any video that reviews the K6S, and you’ll hear the same comment. However, the K6S weighs only 23 oz. When I first shot .357 magnum through the K6S, with the beautiful wood grips, I drew blood on my shooting hand in the joint between my thumb and index finger. I immediately purchased a rubber grip, recommended by Kimber, to soften the .357 magnum shooting experience. It helped. Some. I mostly shoot 38 special (and plus P)out of the K6S. Today, I shot my new Taurus 692 Executive Grade, with its beautiful wood grips and 7 round cylinder. Yes, it is significantly heavier than the Kimber, however the shooting experience is significantly better with the Taurus. The combination of the added weight, combined with the ported barrel ( I guess) makes shooting .357 magnum rounds more like shooting 38 special wad cutters out of the Kimber. For my medium frame, 6 ‘0, 155 lbs, I do not plan to carry the 692. It’s possible for some folks, however the Kimber would be easier to carry. I love the opportunity to shoot 9 mm as well. It is extremely easy to swap out the cylinders. The only negative is the quality of the moon clips that ship from Taurus. Easy to workaround, order moon clips from TK Custom Shop. The first factory clip broke when I tried to load it with 9 mm rounds. Fortunately my TK Custom moon clips arrived the same day the gun arrived at my local FFL. I was warned by knowledgeable revolver enthusiasts about the factory supplied moon clips, as well as about TK Custom Shop, so I ordered moon clips from TK Custom Shop the same day that I ordered the Taurus from Bud’s. Bud’s is my go to source for firearms. The day my gun arrived at my FFL, I noticed that Bud’s had reduced the price of the Taurus by $79. I called Bud’s customer service, they reviewed my order, and immediately made a price adjustment, no hassle. Great customer service, all the way around. I also opted for the $15 try it program, it gave me peace of mind when “pulling the trigger “ to make the investment. I also opted for Bud’s lifetime warranty which was offered on this firearm for a nominal fee. Thank you Bud’s! I love this gun. If you’re concerned about buying this gun because of Taurus’ questionable reputation in the past, I suggest you discount those comments and give the Executive Grade 692 a chance. You won’t be disappointed!
