Cimarron's 1887 Lever Action shotgun is a copy of the venerable 1887.
This is the lever gun that helped establish the repeating shotgun.
Introduced in the West in spring 1888, this 5-shot smoothbore quickly
became a success and saw fair usage during the latter years of the
frontier. With nearly 64,000 of them made before 1899, the gun was
carried by Arizona Sheriff John Slaughter, and the Denver & Rio
Grande Railroad issued '87s to its messengers. Cimarron designed the gun
using an original 1887 shotgun. The shotgun features a 20" blued
barrel, 2-3/4" chamber, and the iconic look and feel of the original.

This is a must buy. It functions well with the cheapest Federal dove loads. It ran notably smoother with Winchester AA Target loads. The stock is real walnut and the finishing touch for me was a real steel buttplate and the 20" barrel is extra thick walled. With the antique look of the gun I thought it wouldn't be comfortable to shoot. It points naturally and hits were equal to anything else. Saying that it is noticably slower than a pump gun. One small issue was with one of the large screws on each side of the receiver. They both came loose after about 2 boxes of shells and one even fell out. I believe then hold the lifter or other internal parts. I put the screw back and tightened them both and we were back in business. I will monitor them and may use some blue loctite in the future. If they make a smaller version in 20 gauge I will buy it also.

Great shotgun. Used it for dove this season and now using it for cowboy action. Been super reliable and consistent. For sure use high quality ammo for it. Thats what she needs. Although the cheap monarch works pretty good, run better quality ammo

This shotgun is worth at least twice as much as what they are being sold for. It is, as far as I can tell, the most correct reproduction of the 1887 on the market today. Mechanically it is smooth and is built like a tank. I have ran all types of loads through it with no issues. I even put 1000 rounds through it in a single 4 hour session with no mechanical failures. 11/10 get off the fence and purchase one.

Out of all the lever action shotguns of this style, this one is by far the best value. What else can you say? It's about as close to the real thing as you'll probably get. The lever is smooth, it feels hefty but in a good way. If you're a collector, I'd highly recommend this. It's definitely an eye candy gun.
