This is my second Savage Axis XP, I purchased one in .308 cal. Both guns arrived true in accuracy, workmanship, great weight, right out of the box. That is the .308, as I have been unable to shoot the 30-06, being that my wife is holding hostage until XMAS. Bud's is the best in shipping and handling, they get the product out fast, you do not need to do a lot of hunting around looking for the firearm you desire, as Bud's more than likely has what you are looking for and at great prices that you can afford, or backdoor into the house with the wife and chief treasury officer pitching one. I have purchased a couple of Savage rifles, .22cal to 30-06I personally feel. that have some of the best out of the box firearms at very affordable prices.     Hi Ed, no sir, the barrel is not threaded. The thread-in head spacing refers to the barrel attachment to the receiver fitment.
