I have several Kimbers and have to say they are my favorite 1911, I have never really had a problem with them or the Kimber mags as many have complained about. Maybe I have just been luckey, but over the years I have had 18 of them with no complaints. This CDP has to be one of my favorites. I also have a CDP Ultra in 9mm and it and the new 45 are the most accurate out of all of them for some unknown reason, even beating the Kimber Pros and Customs. Even though I shoot alot, I have to admit that I am not the best shot in the world. But the CDP's are so accurate that they make me be a lot better shooter than the others. Fit and finish is excellent though the black finish on the frame is not the best, it is sort of shiney instead of flat black like say on the Pro Raptor and Custom TLE. I had the frame re-finished on the 9mm after about a year due to wear and light chipping and will probably do this one as well. Other than that, I can find no faults with the pistol, it has had more than 300 rounds through it so far with no failures to chamber, fire or eject. To me it is the perfect weight and size for concealed carry, is tight with no rattles, reliable out of the box, accurate, easy to break down and clean and will last a lifetime with proper care. As for Bud's, I have bought over 40 guns from them since 2009 with no real problems and reliable communication and shipping.

Beautiful gun. Took it to the range and put 100rds through it flawless. The next outing to the range i put 157rds down range with 5 failure to ejects. Not sure what was going on with it but cleaned it real good and we will see how she handles this next outing. Overall very satisfied.

Great CCW pistol. Buds was excellent, payment cleared on Thursday Buds shipped on Friday and I was shooting on Monday. What else can I say.

Nice fit in larger hands with above average accuracy straight out of box plus the usual ease of purchase from Bud's.

Great gun! Buds shipping was very fast. My only issue is the Bud's customer service which essentially is HORRIBLE! Theres noone to speak with. Hold times are exhaustive. I guess it's the 'take it or leave it' attitude that is annoying.

Today, I shot 100 rds. of .45 ACP FMJ Feds through my new ULTRA CDP II I traded with BUDS. WOW!! what a handgun with no malfuntions. I am extremely pleased with this weapon. I shot the bullseye out of the paper; much more accurate than the Colt Defender I used to own. I don't have my CCW renewed yet but wore it concealed around the house the first day I got it and it proved light and quite comfortable with the melt Kimber did as a standard feature. The Colt Defender runs around $900 now days and this gun at 1,100 has so many more features. Gurney Lee was great to work with on the trade and kept me updated throughout the process. If your thinking of doing a trade with BUDS, don't think twice...DO IT! One Happy Customer, Bob

I'm still in the break-in period following the exact manufacturers recommendations. I've put about 300 rounds through this 1911 and every single one of them have cycled flawlessly, using mostly Magtech 230 gr FMJ rounds (they're cheap for breaking in) but also about 50-75 rounds of Remington Golden Saber 230 gr JHP which would serve as my defense ammo. After properly broken in, this will serve as my CCW. Fit and finish are immaculate, this is just as much eye candy as it is a useful and reliable tool. 3" 1911s don't come from the factory any prettier than this. Just understand the odd complication when field stripping this model with the weird paperclip rod tool. If you do a Google search for "1911 Kimber Tools" you'll be led to a YouTube video showing a semi-circled plastic tube that snaps into place to allow for scratch-free take-down, there is also a link from there (I don't want to violate any BudsGunShop rules (they do NOT carry this item here)). There are also brass ones available if you search for "1911ultratool", but it's 3 times the cost of the plastic models that work just as well.
