Yes, you can add an optic by adding a piccatinny rail. You can add a brace but remember it must maintain a minimum length of 26".

Is this shotgun (Mossberg 990 Aftershock) NJ legal? I've noticed some places dont ship this shotgun to NJ and I am not sure where it stands with NJ rules.

Hi Isaac, unfortunately this is not NJ legal. A pump action Shockwave is NJ legal, but the new semi-auto Aftershock has not been deemed legal by the NJSP. Ask you local FFL. I am a NJ resident and my FFL tells me it is not NJ legal. It's the same category as the RIA VRF14, which is not NJ legal. Stay safe & have a great day!

Ultra-compact and easy to manuever, it delivers 5+1 semi-auto convenience paired with a host of functional tactical features. Inside, the 990’s durable gas system and a host of corrosion-resistant internal parts/finishing (nickel boron-coated gas piston, magazine tube, hammer and sear), plus an enlarged/beveled loading port, elongated elevator, and anodized follower combine for smooth operation. I recently bought the Mossberg & Sons 990 Aftershock 12ga Semi Auto (14.75″ barrel, 5 + 1 capacity) from Budsgunshop.com, and it has quickly become my go to shotgun for both home defense and range shooting. From the moment I loaded the first round, the Aftershock cycled flawlessly. The semi automatic action is crisp and consistent, delivering a clean ejection and ready to fire feel with each pull of the trigger. Very nice Mossberg very nice!!!!! I really like this 990 it's a beautiful weapon and it works out for me great!!!!! I already love my 590s Shockwave so this is a grand addition to that!!!!! I'm very happy with this 990 it fits my purposes very well!!!!! My shoulders are pretty well shot from over work and injuries so hip fire is the way to go from on out!!!!! I have to be able to protect myself and those I care about and this will be a tremendous help with that!!!!! Hope I never have to use it on anyone ever but I know I'm prepared if I ever do!!!!! Thanks Mossberg and A HUGE THANKS to Bud's Guns for getting it for me!!!!!
