Smooth and easy transaction and nice gun

Couldn't pass this one up at the price Bud's had. A 50.00 Winchester rebate on top of the killer price didn't hurt either. I already had a 7mm/08 Winchester Ultimate Shadow but bought the XPR for a spare for family members to use. Already had dies, brass etc. The XPR has all the features I was looking for. 60 degree bolt lift, adjustable trigger, 2 detachable magazines included , soft recoil pad and shipped from the factory with a Vortex Crossfire II scope mounted and bore sighted. This scope isn't your usual cheapo 20.00 scope you find on combo guns. Super clear, BDC reticle, and a lifetime warranty from Vortex. I used a box of factory ammo to break the barrel in after checking the action and scope screws for proper torque. Check the owners manual for proper action screw torque values. Pleasantly surprised to find it shooting under MOA during the break in procedure at 100 yards. Should have no trouble getting that down to well under an inch with handloads. Recoil very mild with the stock design and recoil pad. Feeds correctly from the magazine without issues. Magazine locks in tightly. Recessed magazine release precludes dropping the mag prematurely in the field. Made some trigger adjustments( follow the instructions in the owners manually CAREFULLY ) and got it down just under 3#. Passed the drop and bolt slam tests. This trigger is amazing for the price point. No creep, clean break, zero overtravel. It doesn't go much under 3#, but it feels much lighter. I asked several friends to guess the trigger weight and all felt it was under 2 pounds. They found it hard to believe it was 3 pounds . Bolt travel smoothed up after cleaning the rust preventative off and lubing with Slip2000. After break in, barrel cleaned up easily. No rough bore in this one. Copper came out with a patch and KG12 with no trouble. I couldn't be happier with this one. My daughter shot it and I guess it's her go-to rifle now. Hope I get to shoot it some more.

I own two of these Winchester 7mm-08 with Vortex Crossfire Scopes. My wife and daughter both use them for deer hunting. The 7mm-08 allows them to shoot a 140 grain bullet. The recoil is equivalent to an AR-15. The trigger is extremely nice. The pull is light compared to most rifles, but it is very smooth all the way through the pull. The trajectory is flat which works well for where we hunt (160 yards maximum shot).
The Vortex Crossfire scope is one of the nicest scopes that I have used for the money. It is clear and the magnification is outstanding.
I find myself using one of these rifles if one of girls are not hunting. I typically use a .30-06. You can shoot this rifle all day long and not regret it.
Reading ballistics data I followed advice to use Nosler ballistic tip ammo for best results.

Bought this XPR for my 17 year old son at Xmas - took 5 shots to sight in the scope at the range and the first trip to the lease at the end of youth season he inserted 140 grains of bad medicine in a good sized deer at 150 yards! It will go with him every trip from now on.
