The M&P 40 M2.0 is very accurate and reliable. The service from Buds was good as always.

This pistol is classic S&W M&P. I've fired hundreds of rounds through mine with mostly reloads from mild to wild and have had zero issues. It feeds, functions and fires with amazing accuracy every time. I've tried to become a Glock fan but as long as S&W keeps making the M&P line it just isn't going to happen. The grip angle just suits me better and perfect function and accuracy are hard to argue with. I own a lot of handguns but this one maintains a place on my bedside table every night when I go to bed. A 40 in a full size is hard to beat.

I love this gun, I know people complain about the rough grip but I love it, I have large hands and the grip makes it feel very secure in my hand even when my hands get sweaty at the range. As long as good ammo is used it is a very consistent and accurate, So far I have put 250 rounds of mixed flat & hollow points through it and have not had one miss fire or jam. I have switched to this for my daily carry.

Great weapon! Buds always has what I'm looking for. As always easy to buy and the local dealer I deal with is very good at letting me when my weapon arrives. I am definitely buying more from Buds.

I was surprised to even see this gun in stock and even more surprised when I was picking it up at a local FFL in 3 1/2 days. Super smooth and easy transaction with simple to follow instructions. Buds is the best place to purchase a firearm online, hands down. The gun itself fits perfectly in my hand and the stippling provides extra grip that makes it secure when firing. Although the aggressive texture would be too rough for conceal carrying and I can see it chafing the skin unless you tuck an undershirt between you and the gun first. My solution is just to open carry this one since I have that option and conceal my smaller M&P. Very accurate gun right out of the box with great balance an feel when loaded. If you can get one, don't pass it up

I had been looking at this caliber to add to my collection. I really like the M2.0 series in the full size in the other versions I had. This was a great price on a great product. Good value and the transfer went smoothly. Please set up an account with Bud's guns before ordering and it will process quicker. This has become my new favorite for now at least. If there was a downside it would be it doesn't come with a nice case but you don't buy for the case.

Buds is OUTSTANDING! Great transaction as always, smooth process and quick delivery to my FFL.
The M&P was as described (NEW in box). I took it home, cleaned it as normal...went to the range and put about 750 rounds downrange. Flawless! One of the best firearms I have purchased as late. S&W has really stepped up their game with the 2.0.

I have never been a fan of striker guns, to be honest. But I wanted to have at least one in my collection, and I was determined to avoid the overrated Glock at all costs. As a big HK fan, I considered the VP9, which I had fired on a number of occasions and found it to be an outstanding weapon. But I had a chance to fire an M&P at my local range and I fell in love with it the second I picked it up. It was so comfortable in my hand that it shocked me. I told the friend that was with me, "if it shoots anywhere near as good as it feels, I'm buying one today!"
I loaded it up and stepped into the range and went to work shooting and I didn't even get through the first magazine before I knew I was going to buy it. Grip angle was remarkable, which I guess shouldn't be a surprise since I'm told it was modeled after the 1911: a platform I adore in every way. Recoil impulse was mild and I think it is just a beautiful gun, especially compared to the Glock. Of course anything is beautiful compared to the Glock.
One thing that surprised me was the trigger. I know the Gen 1 pistols had pretty mushy triggers, at least from my experience. And of course Glock triggers are just nasty, although the GEN5's are a vast improvement over earlier models. In any case, the trigger was darn right good. Not spectacular like the VP9 or Walther, but a VERY good trigger.
I do have three minor gripes about the gun, but two of those can be corrected simply by purchasing one of the other models. Gripe number one is no manual safety. For carry weapons, I prefer a manual safety, especially on a striker pistol with the lighter trigger pulls. And there are models that have a manual safety, so this really isn't an issue since you can get whichever suits your preferences. The second gripe is the lack of an optics cut. Again, this isn't really a huge problem anymore, now that they are offering the CORE option.
The last gripe I have is that it doesn't have a squared trigger guard. Many people couldn't care less, but I have extremely large hands, and I use my big mitts to full advantage on my guns, using the trigger guard as a grip point for my support hand, which allows me to maintain superb recoil control. Not a huge issue, and there are actually ways to work around that. For those of you that may be interested, here's a little tip for you! I installed a Streamlight flashlight, and I am able to brace my finger against the flashlight housing, pressing down during recoil which actually works even better than having a squared trigger guard.
It really is a great gun and there is actually a solid after-market accessory buffet to choose from as well, for those of you that want to tweak yours a bit. I'll probably buy another one someday in 9mm, and get the options that I want right from the factory: manual safety and optics cut. But you won't be disappointed with this platform. The magazines aren't the cheapest in the world, but they certainly aren't the most expensive I've seen. And in my opinion, that is the ONLY thing that the Glock beats this pistol!

A:Hi Michael and welcome. Yes Sir, The IL law only requires that the magazine capacity does not exceed 15rds. The +1 in the chamber does not count so you are good to go. Cheers, stay safe and enjoy! Spare 15rd magazines if desired available here: https://www.budsgunshop.com/product_info.php/products_id/32912/smith+%26+wesson+15+round+black+magazine+for+m%26p+40s%26w+357+sigSee 1 more answer | -

A:Tony, I always recommend to Clean and lube before taking any firearm to the range for the first time. Alot of manufacturers use thick lubricant to prevent rust over long storages, so this can cause jams and issues if not cleaned and lubed. Or some don't have much if any lubricant Wich can wear parts quicker. Don't think it would hurt much if you didn't but I'd clean and lube it as soon as possible after coming back from the range. Hope this helps.
