Colt Mfg 1911 Combat Commander .45 ACP Black Cherry G10 Grips - 8 Rounds, 4.25" Barrel, Composite Grips, Blue/Black

Very nice pistol. This is my first Colt purchase in a long time. back in the late 90's and early 2000's I had several fine Colts in my collection. Unfortunatly I got rid of all of them over the years and wasn't interested in the newer models. When I saw this one it reminded me of the old days and took a chance. As you can see I changed out the G10 grips to Colt OEM wood grips for a classic look. On inspection it is a beautiful example of a Colt Combat commander, finnish and roll marks were as they should be. The slide to frame fit was fairly loose and would rattle when the pistol was shaken and I am use to much tighter fitting 1911's in my collection these datys. When I took it to the range it was very reliable and pretty accurate. The trigger was horrible at 10 pounds with lots of creep and take up. When I cleaned and lubricated it I also wasn't crazy about Colts double recoil spring system and non full length guide rod. I could have put more money into the Colt and fixed or had fixed all or most of the problems but in the end thought it wasn't worth it to me and sold it. I have read a lot of glowing reviews so I don't know if this was the exception or the rule, but it wasn't for me.

Gun is of poor quality, Colt has poor craftsmanship, had to send it back. Never buy a colt again

Nice gun! The only thing I didn’t like was the grip. Luckily you can purchase these pretty cheap and it’s easy to replace.

Being a lifetime Colt 1911A1 user, I was more than pleased with the Colt Combat Commander I received. I decided to go with the all steel one and it met all my expectations. It eats both hollow point and FMJ ammo easily, is very accurate and as expected had flawless function.
It's fit and finish are 1st rate as are ALL Colt 1911A1s I own, the craftsmanship is excellent.
Shipping was fast to my FFL shop with no delays.

I grew weary of following everyone else regarding the plastic EDC carry. I think the aforementioned weapons are excellent, but I knew what I really wanted to carry, and I knew what I shot well. I decided on the Colt Commander 45! Oh my God! What took me so long? This gun is outstanding. Nothing went wrong when I took it to the range. It was accurate, reliable, and felt like a second skin. I respect all other manufacturers, but I will shoot and carry what I like and respect the right of others to carry what they like... no debates! This steel Icon and the Wilson Combat mags I purchased for it will go everywhere with me. This is the best purchase by far from Buds. If you’re thinking about making the change ( you know what I’m talking about) and don’t want to spend a fortune on finicky 1911 Maserati type gun, this is the one! Wooo!!
