This is a great rifle. Accuracy is good and the fit, finish and quality of the rifle is much better than other lever actions in my collection.

I was wanting a 66 in 38 Special but was not sure which to buy, the Uberti or the Miroku Winchester. I got a chance to shoot one of these rifles for a couple of Cowboy Action matches and was very pleased with the action. Right out of the box it is much smoother than the Uberti. It still needs a good gunsmith to be race ready and a match winning rifle but right out of the box it will run faster than most of us old cowboys can shoot it. The fit, finish and furniture on the rifle I received from Buds was superb, inside and out! I would highly recommended this rifle to anyone playing the Cowboy Action game. You won't be disappointed.

What a great rifle! It shoots as good as it looks. The wood is beautiful and fits well. The brass is flawless and the bluing is deep and even. The action is very smooth and the shells eject cleanly and clear the rifle very well. The sights are easy to use and pick up well. I shot Remington shells at 25, 50, & 100 yds. with excellent results. The Model 1866 is a piece of history with modern materials and technology. Take a trip back to the Old West and get yourself one too. Buds was great as usual. My FFL received the rifle in three days and it arrived in perfect shape. I have dealt with Buds for over five years and have never been disappointed.

First, service from Bud's was great. This is a beautiful rifle, fit & finish is perfect. It is heavier than a 73, but balances very well, the weight is mostly in the receiver. The brass colored receiver is bright and smooth, I could not find a single flaw in it. The walnut stock is much nicer than anticipated, with lots of character. Bluing is deep & dark. The action and trigger are very smooth, no need for an action job with this rifle. I took it to the range and put about 100 rounds of various 38 SPL ammo through it without a single hiccup. VERY accurate with ammo it likes, I got a 3 shot sub 1" group, all key holed, with Hornady XTP's at 25 yards. It also easily fed the Buffalo Bore 158 grain SWCHP, which is, in my opinion, the best 38 SPL round out there. For those wondering, I contacted Winchester customer service (very helpful!) about whether it can handle 38 SPL+P, and was told they recommend sticking with non-+P ammo with this rifle. My only concern was that after my range day, some splotching appeared on the brass receiver, which wouldn't come off with standard gun cleaning solvents. I was considering sending the rifle back to Winchester, but then tried some Brasso on it. The Brasso worked like a charm! The splotching disappeared in minutes with only a minimal amount of elbow grease. I'm not sure what caused the splotching, but it was a surface issue, and Brasso is definitely the cure. This is my 3rd Miroku built Winchester. I've been a fan of lever guns my whole life, and I've never seen better quality than these Miroku built Winchesters. They are truly first rate in every respect. Mind you, Miroku is part of FNH, which now owns the Winchester name. This is a first world manufacturing facility (they've been churning out Brownings since the 60's). Those of you complaining about "Japchesters" are missing out. I'll take the Japanese built Winchesters over the Henry's or Remington-made Marlins seven days a week and twice on Sunday. It's a fabulous rifle, and a piece of history. I wish they made this rifle in 357 magnum, thats my only disappointment. I may have to pick one up in 45 Colt when they're back in stock.

New, out of the box. Beautiful rifle. Took it apart, cleaned and polished everything, relubed it and put it back together. Then took it to a 3-day cowboy shoot where it worked like a dream. Put about 150 rounds through it without a problem. Even had a "clean shoot", no misses. Think I'll keep it!!!
