Rossi USA R92 Lever Action Carbine .357 MAG 16" 8+1

Buds was awesome as always, Rossi makes a great 1892 reproduction, action is smooth and the finish is good, scratches the 1892 itch without beating up my old winchesters.

I received my Rossi R92 Carbine in .357 Magnum with a 16" barrel in blued finish yesterday. It was 10 days from the time of my order under a cash discount of paying electronically from my checking account which takes up to 5 days for processing--I think that time is VERY reasonable. Bud's is awesome but as this is a product review I'll limit my comments forward to the product. I am impressed! I am a lever action fan--I own several, Marlins and Winchesters and have owned many more, including a beautiful Winchester 1873 in 38/357 which I sold--way to heavy for my taste. The last Rossi R92 I had was an earlier Interarms Puma version. Nice gun on the outside but it had a great deal of trouble ingesting 38 spcls and/or .357 mags--. I have not fired this one yet but have just cycled several different 38/357 loads through it both factory and reloads and not one failed to feed/eject...I was not expecting that. Fit and finish is MUCH better than I expected and if actually pretty good, especially for the price point compared to a new Winchester 92! Sure, wood is not as pretty as some of my other Marlins or Winchesters but, again, for the price point I'm pleased--and I bought this one to shoot--not be a safe queen. This will be a truck gun along with one of my 12 gauge pumps and my Winchester 94 in 30-30. Length of pull is a bit on the short end but workable. I can always put a butt pad on it if needed. Action is 100x slicker better than my old Puma or my 1968 Winchester 94 26" barreled Buffalo Bill commemorative--very stiff! I had thought I would have to send this one to Steve's Guns for action work but if it shoot as good as it cycles I don't think that will be necessary. Overall 5 stars indeed. For the money, 6 stars! I've been wanting one for quite some time now so when I got the notification that Bud's had 3 in stock I jumped on it and am sooooo glad I did. This one will be fun!

I love this rifle wanted one forever I haven’t shot it yet but I should be going with a friend to give it a try 👍 I never have a bad experience shopping at Buds.

It took some time to get this rifle but once it was back in stock, I ordered it and it quickly arrived at my LGS. It is a fun rifle to shoot and using my reloads, it is like shooting a 22LR. No issues with it after putting 750 yrs thru it. Thanks you Buds Guns.

Overall, I am pleased with this rifle. The action is pretty smooth right out of the box and the fit and finish is good for this price point. Pros: Nice metal and wood finish, fairly smooth action, fun to shoot. Cons: 50 yd groups aren't that good but OK, 5 lb weight and steel butt stock plate can punish your shoulder (I added a slip on recoil pad), rounds occasionally jam in the loading gate. I also replaced the rear buckhorn sight with a Skinner peep sight. If you can afford the extra coin, I think the Henry Big Boy carbine is a better rifle for fit, finish, and smoothness. Otherwise, this is a fun and reliable rifle for the money.

I have been really satisfied doing business w/ Bud's in every aspect. Just acquired a Rossi R92 16 inch .357 & it's perfect for my needs. Fit & Finish are excellent, function is excellent as well. This Carbine feels really good & handles better than I expected.

This gun is FANTASTIC for me. I wanted a fun, rugged, daily shooter as a companion to my .357 Cimarron single-action. I basically wanted a lever gun and Rossi's are obviously the cheapest.
So far, it runs .38's and .357's equally well. Steel and brass cased alike. In fact, I'd say the felt recoil is the exact same for both rounds.
I set my target out at 20 yards to sight the rifle in. I did one paper target with .38 and one paper target with .357. Carved out the bullseye on both targets with open sights and a 6 o' clock hold.
I also added a rubber recoil pad for the sake of adding to the length of pull as well as grip. The recoil is not much, but the length of pull is a little short (it's workable, but a little short). Turns out you can fit a Ruger 10/22 recoil pad on the stock. It's not exactly perfect, but with a little fitting it does work out, and really helps work the lever when shouldered because of the grippy surface. The basic steel buttplate offers little grip so it really does help.
This has become one of my very favorite guns in my collection.

Thank you to the Bud's team. Found exactly the product I wanted, and in fact a product I thought was no longer available, in this case a 16" Rossi lever gun. (Everybody told me only the 20" was being manufactured.) A painless transaction, and I'll be back. Bud's is the nits.
