The Rock series is Rock Island Armory's most well-optioned line of 1911
pistols built in the traditional 70 series design with the addition of
next level upgrades. Like all Rock Island 1911s, each is built using
4140 ordnance steel on the industry's best CNC machines while being
hand-fitted and tested to strict tolerance guidelines for unmatched
quality and value.
The Rock Ultra full size HC is built with a 5" button rifled barrel
supported by a full length guide rod. It includes a double stack magwell
with a 16-round capacity. Smooth angled, snag-free styling allows for
quick draw in fast need situations. This firearm features a low profile
adjustable rear sight and high visibility fiber optic front sight and
includes a skeletonized hammer and trigger with adjustable over travel
stop and ambidextrous safety. The Rock Ultra is finished with a tough,
parkerized matte coating and battle-ready G10 tactical grips. True to
all Rock Island 1911s, the Rock Ultra comes with a crisp factory 4- to
6-pound trigger, which gives you a great experience right out of the
box.

Solid gun. Nearly all metal and of high quality. Looks just like a lot of 1911s and with a good exterior as well. The only drawback is that it only comes with one clip and a vinyl bag for carrying, not two clips like many handguns and no hard plastic carrier.

Bud’s is great! Delivered on time and in great condition. RIA makes a great weapon. Machined to tight tolerances and finish. Spring is very heavy when cycling slide but is getting more limber as I fire more rounds. Great price point and great performance!

Pistol looks and shoots amazing. For 50 ish rounds. Had a failure to extract last round of first outing. Picked up another box of ammo and took it out again and it’s a single shot. Disassembled the pistol and discovered the barrel link has sheared off. Will replace link myself but really don’t have any faith in the pistol anymore.

Runs with Armscor ammo... If you want a 1911 based 10mm that runs reliably with various brands of ammo, this is "not the droid you are looking for." Is mine a lemon? Maybe but, its not the only one. The are numerous forum and blog posts of others having the same issues. Cleaned dirt, rust preventative and oiled the frame rails. Ran 100 rounds of ACC 180 grain FMJ supersonic rated ammo, used Armscor factory magazines for all range tests. Experienced around 40% FTF- Failure to Feed issues typically, with the round nose jammed into the feed ramp. There were also some less common failure to go into battery issues. As others have mentioned the ejector tension was tight slapping brass into the slide rear. Range Trip 2) Oiled the slide channels and feed ramp, cycled the slide approximately 500 times. (wear gloves.) Ran 100 rounds of Armscor 180 grain FMJ subsonic rated ammo. Zero failures of any kind, was able erase the target center at 10 yards. The 3 pound frame and thick grip handled the 10mm round well. The ejector tension had loosened considerably, no brass slaps. Range Trip 3) Oiled the slide channels and feed ramp. Ran 100 rounds of Sellier and Bellot 180 grain FMJ supersonic rated ammo. Experienced the same 40% FTF issues as well as several failure to go into battery failures, frustrating. Conclusion) Actually like the pistol and find it accurate when it does run. The 10mm round has a reputation for miss-feeds due to the cartridge length and conical bullet designs. RIA mentions a 500 round break in period however, that doesn't appear to be the core issue here. Plan on trying some Mec-Gar Para 16 magazines, which supposedly have shorter feed ramps. Others have reported fixing the FTF issues by magazine feed ramp tuning, shortening/widening. This pistol is a good baseline for a double stack 10mm 1911, it is not reliable out of the box unless using Amrscor ammo. Based on my experience would not recommend it for self defense or hunting dangerous game, range only. At 48 ounces unloaded and with a MSRP of $840.00, for most the Glock 20 is probably a better option. Shout out to Bud's for the daily deal pricing, easy online transaction and buy back offer.

Very nice pistol from rock island. Has functioned flawlessly so far. Very accurate and the weight takes away from the recoil of the 10mm. Highly recommend
