Kathy, The 40 1/2" total length is deceptive with the 22" barrel on the Sporter. It still has the Sporter's 13.88 inches LOP which is about perfect for a woman.

in the basic gun itself no difference but for differences in wood and finishes and other things I would need to know which Talo Exclusive I count 10 different talo Sporters on the Ruger site https://ruger.com/products/1022Sporter/models.html

Very nice rifle. I am a big fan of the Ruger 10/22 as it is an exceptional and versatile platform. I have several 10/22s with 18.5 and 20 inch barrels and being a lover of longer barreled rifles the 22 inch was a natural choice. At unboxing: The stainless steel 22 inch barrel was nicely finished and has the usual 10/22 sights, front bead and fold down adjustable rear. The receiver had a couple of minor scuffs, but nothing to put me off. As per usual, the receiver is drilled and tapped for optic mounts. The hardwood stock on my example was nicely finished and includes sling swivels front and rear that are best fitted with a one inch wide sling. To the range: I brought along two, one hundred round boxes of CCI Mini Mag, one box 36 grain copper plated hollow point and one box 40 grain copper plated round nose. Two hundred rounds later not a single issue with the gun. Three dud rounds. The trigger is Ruger crisp with minimal take up and over travel. Though I see a Hornet 2.5 pound target trigger in the future. I mounted a Burris 3x9 rimfire scope with dedicated 10/22 see through mounts with 1 inch rings. I didn’t want to spoil the rifles lines with a full pic rail. Off of a rest, at 9 power (these old eyes aren’t quite what they used to be) at 25 yards the 38 grain printed at .5 inches and the 40 grain at .75 center to center measured with a caliper. At 50 yards off the rest, again at 9 power the 38 grain printed at 1 inch and the 40 grain at .9 inches. These are averages for 5 round groups. I am looking forward to taking it outside to 75 and 100 yards. Overall I am very pleased with this rifle and would highly recommend it. It almost goes without saying that the service from Bud’s was exceptional. As usual.

From the beautiful stock to the stainless components, this ruger is a great example of how the quality over the years remains high.
