Nice shotgun, accurate, functions well

I bought this shotgun for my nine year old son. Unfortunately the gun was defective and did not work. The gun looked fine when I picked it up from the FFL. Once on the range, it fired twice and then the trigger stopped working and the gun would no longer fire / fully release the firing pins. In addition, in the bright sunlight of the range I noticed a hairline crack running the length of the forend that I had not noticed when I inspected the gun upon initial pickup. Very frustrating. I have returned the gun to the manufacturer since you cannot return it directly to Bud's. Hopefully I will receive a new gun that is not defective. Size is perfect for kids too small to manage a full sized shotgun.

Purchased this over/under for my 8-year old so we could shoot skeet together. The shotgun looks great and we have put about 200 rounds through it with no issues. I am very happy with the fit & finish and for the price - this shotgun is excellent. However, I will say I'm disappointed with this YOUTH shotgun. First, it is difficult to open, even with both hammers set. I find that I need to open the shotgun for my son more often than not. This shotgun is a step up from his Rossi 410 youth shotgun and he has no issue opening and closing the Rossi. I do realize the Rossi does not set the hammer from the opening/closing of the gun - but as I said, even with bother hammers cocked, the shotgun is still very difficult for him to open. The second is the automatic safety. My 8-year old cannot undo the safety, he just does not have the hand strength. I always need to remove the safety for him. I will say, that the safety is getting easier for me the more the shotgun is used, so I hope it will continue to loosen up. I'll also say that I HATE the automatic safety. I knew it had an automatic safety when I purchased it and I thought it would be okay, but this is the last automatic safety shotgun I will purchase. If this gun was for me, I would give it 5-stars. The amount of shotgun for the price is great, the fit and finish is good, and I cannot knock it for the automatic safety as I knew it had one when I purchased it. However, this is a youth model intended for younger shooters. I cannot give it a 3.5-stars, so I'll give it 4.
