Fantastic shooter (once you throw out the trigger and install a Timney). The first box of REM green box 168gr match ammo I was 1/2" at 100 yds and about 3/4" at 200 yards. The rifle shot so good I put it in a McRee g10 folding chassis stock too. I also spun on a McRee muzzle break, so nice to have this barrel already threaded at the muzzle. I just ordered a second one of these as a back up. Highly recommended.

Another superb product from Remington Arms. The Stainless Model 700 receiver with heavy barrel and 5-R rifling fitted to a high-end H-S Precision synthetic stock with aluminum bedding plate is sure to be a winner and meet the needs of many long-range shooters who demand the utmost in the accuracy department. All and all very reasonable price for a great rifle......a lot of bang for the buck! You won't be disappointed.
Bud's has a great firearms inventory and it was here that I finally located the rifle I'd been lusting for. Their customer service is first rate!

this is a awesome rifle. i purchased it more for a bench gun since i dont hunt. i noticed several reviews complained about the weight. mine is right at 9 1/2 lbs with scope. so it would be up to a hunter to decide if thats too heavy. it does have a heavy barrel so ... the stock is beautiful. it is black with green veins. the veins create a nice texture to it rather than being just smooth. without advertising the scope i put on it i'm sub moa at 100 yrds. the trigger was also knocked down in the reviews. i can tell you i still have the factory xmark on mine set at 2lbs. it was 4lb from factory. so it can be done. do some research on it. it will save you some $. another complaint i saw was the recoil pad. i ran 64 rounds through it and i dont see the need for any more rubber. the recoil just isnt that bad. no bruises. all in all the stainless and the stock combination makes a beatiful gun. i give remington a 10 on this one.

Still needs some tuning to be as accurate as it can be. I did get tired of the color scheme, so be sure you are good with it
Buds was outstanding, as usual

THE REM 700 5-R MILL SPEC.IN .308 IS SO SWEET.
VERY NICE QUALITY & WELL MADE. THE ACTION
SEEMS BETTER THAN MY OTHER REM 700's. I'M STILL TRYING
TO FIND THE BEST AMMO TO USE. IT STILL SUB MOA @ 100yds
& 200yds. I HAVEN'T TRIED IT AT LONGER DISTANCES.
I BOUGHT IT WITH BUD's GIFT CARDS I WON ON egunner.com

This gun is nice. I love the color and feel. It really looks different and and is a head turner. Asthetically this is 10/10, the gun is gorgeous... I love the threaded short barrel as well... 4 stars because this thing is very heavy, you save no weight with the short barrel, i would not want to be lugging this around a hike... Moreover the trigger is pretty crap, I suggest you take it to a gunsmith for a $50 trigger job. The stock trigger is very grainy. The action is nice but not butter like my Tikka T3x... I dont regret buying it and i suggest it to anyone just beware that it is heavy and could be more buttery

The most accurate out of the box rifle I have ever owned. The 1st 5 shoot group with Fed 175GMM measured right at an inch. Not bad. The 2nd 5 shot group with some 155gr A-Max reloads I had laying around for another rifle measured 0.4 inches. This was not a fluke. Repeatable, out the box accuracy. That's what I paid for and that's what I received. I anticipate my groups to shrink up as bore conditions stabilize. Be advised... the trigger sucks, but it is functional. Will be dropping in a Timney 2 stage very soon. Also, the recoil pad is pretty much useless. Will be replacing that also. But... IT'S A SHOOTER!
