I bought this Savage rifle in 6.5 Creedmoor for my teenage sons (when they were aged 13 and 15) to use for big game hunting, mostly mule deer, pronghorn, black bear and whitetail. I also bought it as a backup sheep hunting rifle in case my Weatherby Backcountry TI were to experience issues right before a sheep hunt. They shoot 143 grain hornady ELD-X ammo. They have each killed New Mexico pronghorns bucks with it, as well as multiple Utah and Montana mule deer bucks. Shots have been 200-300 yards. Most shots have been one-shot kills, with a few requiring a finishing shot. Rifle is lightweight, weatherproof, and reasonably accurate, and recoil is manageable for younger, smaller shooters. Haven’t had great accuracy results past 350 yards but I need to work with the rifle and loads more. The trigger is decent but I may add an aftermarket trigger that is crisper. Solid rifle for the money. My sons love it.

I am quite glad that Bud's Gun Shop had this discontinued item and at a very good price. This lightweight rifle will get lots of use. Nice trigger, easy to carry and weather resistant. What's not to love? If you don't have one already, order soon as they are no longer being manufactured and you will pay much more elsewhere.

Bought this little rifle in 6.5 Creedmoor to go on a high country mule deer hunt in Colorado. It weighs nearly half of what my 6.5 Creedmoor precision rifle does and will be much easier to carry. I was a little apprehensive about the long range accuracy of this 5.6 pound rifle because I've had to shot deer out to 400 yards in this hunting unit. I put a Vortex Strikefire II on it and sighted it in. The last 2 shots at 100 yards were within 3/4 of each other and I had no problem centering the steel out to 300 yards. Came quick and as expected. The stock is a little lopsided with its floating but doesn’t effect the accuracy. It’s my mountain gun for sheep and goats and with factory 120 grain Hornady ammo, it’s shooting .5 MOA out of the box. Thanks Buds. 4 stars for cosmetics only

Rifle arrived promptly, with no problems. Mounted a new Leupold VX-2 3-9x40 using Talley lightweight medium silver rings on it and the combo looks great. Love the weight and size of the setup. Took it to range and sighted it in. At 200 yards it was grouping the shots in a 1 inch square utilizing a lead sled and firing Hornady 6.5 129 gr American Whitetail ammo. Also tried a few Hornady 143 gr ELD-X rounds with same results (and with no scope adjustment needed). I am very impressed with my initial results.

After buying the blued light weight hunter .243 with wood stock and seeing how accurate and light that rifle was I decided to jump into the 6.5 Creedmor rage. Using several different types of factory ammo, this rifle is about the most accurate I've ever had the pleasure to own. 1/2 MOA groups are the norm, if I do my part. Bud's was as expected, great!
