Did Savage improve the socks on these new models or just the magazines?

Eric, yes. there were some revisions to the stock. Savage's ergonomic synthetic stock features a higher comb with a target style vertical pistol grip for better comfort and control. Stock flex was also addressed for even better accuracy. Magazine lockup is tight with no slop.

This is a very accurate little rifle . I’m 5 ft. 9 and this rifle fits me but definitely not going to work for a taller person as it has a short length of pull. It’s very lightweight. Works great with 4x12x40 scope with medium rings. Only thing I found that the scope bases where not torqued down at the factory not a big deal but save your self time and check them before mounting a scope.
